Gabehart Takes Second Win of 2007

Anderson, IN (June 9, 2007) - Chris Gabehart won for second time in three CRA Super Series races by taking the Anderson 125 presented by Great Deals Magazine last Saturday night at Anderson Speedway. Gabehart has not finished outside the Top 5 in first six Super Series events in 2007 and maintained his hold of the CRA Super Series points lead. Gabehart took the lead on the 80th lap when Jeff Lane who had led from the green flag developed engine problems and dropped out. Gabehart took over and never trailed again on his way to the win.

"This is a real testament to the guys who work on this car every week to get it ready to race. We have tried some new things this year and it has worked very well. We just keep trying to get better, so hopefully we can continue to run well the rest of this year." A jubilant Gabehart stated.

The race started in dramatic fashion when Scott Hantz’s oil filter seal gave out blowing oil on his engine and causing a large fireball to develop under his car on the green flag lap. As the race was reset Hantz’s crew worked to fix the problem and he restarted the race two laps down. Hantz gained one lap back during the race for his fourth Top 10 finish of this season. For his efforts during the race Hantz earned the Sweet Manufacturing "Sweet Move of the Race" Award.

CRA Super Series newcomer Bret Miles, Jr. showed flashes of great things to come as he finished his personal best second to Gabehart. Miles was able to get to the rear bumper of Gabehart’s car but was unable to pass as the laps wound down. Miles is running a limited schedule this year in preparation to run for the "Rookie of the Year" honors in 2008. His teammate and crew chief Rick Turner ran a strong third. "We are really excited with how well Bret ran today." Turner commented. "He did everything right and kept himself under control though the whole race, something that is hard for a young driver to do running that close in second." Miles also earned the VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap of the Race Award for turning the fastest lap during the race.

Jason Shively continued his streak of strong performances finishing in 7th after having to go to the tail after pitting on the initial start of the event that had to be redone after Hantz’s car went up in flames.

Fast Qualifier Kenny Tweedy took fourth place after winning the Appleton Rack & Pinion and Fatheadz.com Fast Qualifier Awards. JR Roahrig won a Hoosier Tire Performance Award on his way to fifth place. John Heck in his second career CRA Super Series Top 10 finish took the second Hoosier Tire Performance Award for his 10th place finish.

Sean Matthuis took the ISKY Racing Cams/Lane Automotive Hard Charger Award moving up seven positions during the race. John Van Doorn’s sixth place finish earned him the RV Performance Rookie of the Race Award. This is his fifth straight Rookie of the race award and he currently leads the Rookie of the Year standings over Matthuis.

Kingen Interstate Express Halfway Leader Award was earned by Lane. The Speed Media Best Looking Car Award went to Rick Turner. Gabehart also earned the Holly Performance Award and the Fatheadz.com winner Award.

The EMF "That’s Racing" Award went to former series champion Brian Rievley when he was knocked out during an accident on the 33 lap involving a spinning car ahead of him. Jack Smith received the Leaf Race Products Tough Luck Award after being involved in the same incident. Three pairs of Ringers Gloves went to Turner.

The next CRA Super Series Event is the 6th Annual Elmer Musgrave Memorial 100 Presented By Texas Corral at Illiana Motor Speedway on June 23. For more information about the Illiana Motor Speedway see www.illianaspeedway.com. For CRA Super Series news go here.
