2008 Procedures for Lineups, Provisionals & Additional Starters

Procedures in Word Format

Qualifying Procedures: Qualifying will consist of 1 complete warm up lap and 2 consecutive laps for qualifying. Once you take the green flag that is your only attempt to qualify. A blind draw (completed before practice begins) will determine each events qualifying order. If you do not qualify in your proper drawn position, for any reason, you may not start equal to or better than that event’s maximum inversion, and you will only receive 1 qualifying lap. You are also not eligible for points or awards from qualifying. Starting in 2008, teams will no longer be able to move to the tail of qualifying without receiving the above detailed penalties.

Event Line-Ups: At each CRA Super Series regular event in 2008, positions 1 thru 20 will be the fastest 20 cars in qualifying (If there are just enough cars entered to fill the feature then all cars will be lined up by qualifying times, with the invert, where applicable). Cars will be lined up in order of the inversion drawn by the fast qualifier. The inversion can be a minimum of a three (3) up to a maximum of an eight (8), unless a Special Event inversion is used. Events with live pit stops will not have an inversion.

To be eligible for a top twenty (20) qualifying position, teams must purchase their qualifying tires at the track on the day of the race, and remain in impound per the event rules. Any car qualifying in the top twenty (20) that did not purchase their qualifying tires at the track on the day of the race cannot start the feature better than twenty-first (21) and may be required to qualify through a last chance race.

Positions 21 -? will be the cars that transfer from the last chance race(s).

Standard Provisional Starting Positions: After the last chance transfers have been applied to the starting line-up, the next two positions in the feature will be filled by the two cars highest in series owner points who have not yet qualified for the event. For the first two series events of 2008, the 2007 owner points will be used to determine these provisional starters. 2008 owner points will be used for the rest of the season starting with the third event of the season.

The final two positions in the feature will be filled by two promoter’s options.

Additional Starters: The number of cars to start each event is determined with each individual track promoter prior to each event and is listed on each event’s entry blank. Individual track promoters do have the option to add additional starters to each event once the original starting field is set. Those additional starters must be added in pairs and must come from the next fastest in qualifications, the next highest finisher in the last chance race, or the next in points.

Additional starters will only be guaranteed half of that events guaranteed start money, for most events that would be $225 to start money, therefore wherever the additional starters finish in the field, they will be paid $225 less than the other teams that made the originally established starting field. Teams do have the option to decline an additional starting position. If the promoter decides to add additional starters so that all cars start, the slowest cars that don’t earn the points provisional slots will be considered the additional starters and be paid accordingly.
