Brown Makes it a Clean Sweep

Winchester, IN (August 21, 2011) - Justin Brown made it a clean sweep of Winchester Speedway races this weekend by winning the Vore's Welding and Steel 20 on both Saturday and Sunday. Giving him six victories at the historic track, the most by any Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts competitor, not only at that track, but overall.

On Sunday Chad Richardson jumped out to an early lead, but Brown hunted him down and raced with him lap after lap, with most of the race being side by side. Brown did not lead any of the laps, until he pulled ahead slightly in the second turn just as Richardson blew his right front tire, hitting the wall hard. Brown then cruised to a victory. Jeff Shelmadine took home second passing Kyle Crump on the last lap. Crump was third, Jacob Wyman came home fourth and Stephanie Bigelow was fifth.

"It’s great to win here, especially today. I have to thank my sponsors my family, and my friends who come out each time to help." Brown stated while holding his three month old son (at his first race) in Victory Lane. "I also want to say thank you to Charlie Shaw and Winchester Speedway for having us come race here, Steve Vore (owner Vore’s Welding and Steel) and the CRA."

Also making it a clean sweep was Chad Richardson who set fast time on both days, on Sunday he had a lap of 21.022 seconds. Teammate Jeff Shelmadine was second at 21.092. Justin Brown was third, Jake Wyman fourth and Greg Isbell fifth. The invert will be a 14 putting Aaron Teegarden on the pole, with Thomas Bigelow on the outside of the front row.

After a brief rain delay the action has restarted on the track with the Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts heat races. In the first heat Jeff Shelmadine started in the last row and came through the field to win just ahead of a char charging Justin Brown who also came from the back to finish second. The second heat also had the winner come from the back with Rick James moving from the back to the front to hold off a hard charging Brian Martin who again came from the back of the field to catch James, but he could not finish the pass as they came off of the fourth turn side by side with James on the high side able to shoot to the finish line first.

The Saturday win was an all out sprint as Brown assumed fast time after his car had handling issues during qualifying. After starting back in the field, he rushed through to get to the front, followed the leader for several laps to find a way past him and then after driving past was pushed by Chad Richardson who looked high and low but could not find a way to get by in the last few laps. With five laps to go, Brown drove past Greg Isbell to take the lead, and pulled Richardson with him. Richardson then tried several different lines to get past, but could not find a path fast enough to pass. Richardson had to settle for second, with Isbell third, Jeff Shelmadine fourth and Jake Wyman fifth.

It was a clean sweep of the Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compact heat races for the JB Racing Teams as Cary Abrell and Justin Brown won their respective heats. Brown took the first heat starting fourth and running to the front to hold on to the lead with Greg Isbell second. Abrell meanwhile started seventh and worked his way to the win over Tom Bigelow. Bigelow was forced to hold off Steve Derouin barely holding on to second at the line.

Chad Richardson set fast time on Saturday with a lap of 21.291 seconds. Jake Wyman was second at 21.344. Brian Martin came in third, Justin Brown fourth and Greg Isbell fifth. The invert for the feature will be a 12 putting Aaron Teegarden on the pole with with Thomas Bigelow on the outside of the front row.

The next race for the Vore’s Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts will be the World Stock Car Festival at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, September 4-5. The CRA Super Series, Sullivan RV CRA Late Model Sportsman, EDCO Welding CRA Street Stocks and USA Modifieds will also be racing on this very busy weekend. Saturday will be an optional day of practice.
