Snyder Earns First CRA Victory
Anderson, IN (July 9, 2011)
- Trent Snyder has raced and won at many tracks in different series in
the Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin area, but had never raced at
Anderson Speedway and never won a CRA race with only a limited number
of starts. He can now add another track and series to his list
of wins as he took home the trophy for the Anderson 100 presented by
JEGS.com with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Taking the lead by
passing Derrick Griffin when Griffin could not get down after Griffin
passed early race leader Cole Powell on the outside. Snyder was
then challenged by both Griffin and Brandon Watson who ran second for
much of the race. Snyder then pulled away a few car lengths in
the waning laps as Griffin and Watson fought for second, with Watson
coming out ahead. Josh Nelms was fourth, and Jack Smith fifth.
"This is my first race ever at Anderson Speedway."
Snyder stated. "I really like this track, and have to say thank
you to them for bringing us here. The people have been really
nice to us all day. I also need to thank my sponsors, including Great
Deals Magazine for this race and Liz Girl Logistics."
The race was a continuation of an event that was
originally scheduled for June 4th. After qualifying had
been completed a strong storm blew through the area and a pouring rain
set in. The feature was then postponed until July 9th,
using the lineup set on the first day at the track.
With a time of 12.342 seconds Trent Snyder took home
the Keyser Manufacturing Co. Fast Qualifier Award over second fastest
Erik Jones with a time of 12.458 seconds. Derrick Griffin was
third, Brandon Watson fourth and Justin Matson fifth. Snyder then drew
a six for the invert putting Cole Powell on the pole with Matson on
the outside of the front row.
The Hoosier Racing Tires Performance Awards went to
Snyder and Eddie Hoffman. Hoffman also earned the Five Star Stock Car
Bodies Hardcharger and Racing Electornics Most Improved Awards for
moving up 10 positions during the race.
Griffin took home the AR Bodies Cool Move of the
Race Award for his hard driving style on the outside of the pack to
get to the front and stay in the Top three the entire race. Jimmy
Novak was the Howe Racing Rookie of the Race and VDL Fuel Systems
Rookie Awards as the highest finishing rookie contender.
Snyder also earned the Turn One Lap Leader Award for
leading the most laps during the race. As well as the VDL Fuel Systems
Hot Lap of the Race for turning the fastest lap under the green flag.
He also took home the DTS Drive Train Halfway Leader Award.
