Brown Makes It Two in a Row

Winchester, IN (August 22, 2010) - Starting eighth Tim Dilg fought through traffic to take the lead on the fourth lap of the Vore’s Welding and Steel 20 at Winchester Speedway and built it up while the other cars fought the same traffic.  Justin Brown came from his 12th starting position to get into second with Dilg having a long lead.  As the laps wound down Brown was creeping up on Dilg but it seemed he was going to run out of race before catching him.  Then on the 15th lap two cars got together and spun coming out of the fourth turn bringing out the only caution of the race.  Brown jumped ahead on the restart and held on to win his second Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts race in a row on Old Timer's Weekend. Dilg finished second, Jeff Shelmadine third, Jess Drook fourth and Cary Arbell fifth.

"I was very surprised I could get him on the restart, I was really nervous about it."  Brown stated. "The car was good, it started pushing when the sun came out but I fought through it and did the best I could."

Brown started the day by setting the new track record for the FWD’s at Winchester Speedway with a time of 20.947 seconds to average 85.913 mph, just eclipsing the Rex Zimmerman’s record of 20.967 seconds set on October 4, 2009. Abrell was second at 21.040 seconds, Jeff Shelmadine third, Jess Drook fourth and Tim Dilg fifth.

Tim Dilg won the first heat race over Jess Drook leading from the third lap. The first heat had only one caution when Abrell developed a transmission leak after the plug blew out oiling the track. Jeff Williams won the second hear over Bobby Cook taking the lead from Eric Vore on the seventh lap.

The next event for Vore’s Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts will be the Vore’s Welding 20 at Winchester Speedway during the exciting World Stockcar Festival Labor Day weekend.
