"I was very surprised I could get him on the
restart, I was really nervous about it." Brown stated. "The car
was good, it started pushing when the sun came out but I fought
through it and did the best I could."
Brown started the day by setting the new track
record for the FWD’s at Winchester Speedway with a time of 20.947
seconds to average 85.913 mph, just eclipsing the Rex Zimmerman’s
record of 20.967 seconds set on October 4, 2009. Abrell was second at
21.040 seconds, Jeff Shelmadine third, Jess Drook fourth and Tim Dilg
fifth.
Tim Dilg won the first heat race over Jess Drook
leading from the third lap. The first heat had only one caution when
Abrell developed a transmission leak after the plug blew out oiling
the track. Jeff Williams won the second hear over Bobby Cook taking
the lead from Eric Vore on the seventh lap.
