– Augie Grill knows the fast way around Gresham Motorsports Park as he
proved again in the U. S. Auto Sales World Series of Speed 100, the
third race in the CRA Super Series Southern Six Pack Series Saturday
night. Grill, the current track record holder, was the second fastest
qualifier behind T J Reaid. He started in the seventh position but
found the lead on the 34th lap after several laps of side
by side racing with early race leader Bubba Pollard. He then put on a
clinic of how to find speed on the famed Georgia half mile running out
to strong leads and only being seriously challenged on restarts as he
went on to lead the rest of the race for his second CRA win.

Grill was disqualified at an event at Mobile
International Speedway on June 26th because of altered
cylinder heads. This was his first race since then and the crew and
driver were happy to be in Victory Lane.
"We got disqualified a couple of weeks ago for some
questionable motor parts, but today we won with a 100% legal engine."
Grill commented. "It is a good win, to come back from some adversity,
and come out on top. This last week sucked and I feel like this is
redemption, this car was as good as the one I had in March, we didn’t
qualify well, but it sure was good for the race."
The Gresham Motorsports Park is known for being very
racy, with plenty of side by side action through out the field. The
action got a little too hot a couple of times brining out two red
flags for cars that were up on their side with their right side wheels
on top of the outside wall.
On the restart for a spin on lap 73, Ben Kennedy and
Donnie Wilson tangled with Kennedy sliding more than half way down the
back stretch wall with the fans in trackside parking getting a view of
the underside of Kennedy’s car as the left side tires left tire marks
along the bottom of the wall while the right side tires were above the
wall.
Then on 98th lap as they were coming to
the white flag, Ben Hogan and Jeff Fultz came together with Hogan
hitting the turn four wall with his back end up on the wall before
settling on the track. "I think he just checked up and I got into him,
I feel really bad about it, I don’t like to drive like that." Fultz
stated after the race.
T. J. Reaid set fast time for the first time with
the CRA Super Series, and finished second on the track, but failed
post race tech and has been officially credited with finishing 20th.
That change moved Bubba Pollard to second, Ryan Blaney to third, Jeff
Fultz to fourth and Jimmy Weller to fifth in the posted results.
The next event for the CRA Super Series is the Welch
& Wilson Motorsports Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway on Monday, July
26. The Redbud will be a star filled event with NASCAR competitors
Kyle Busch and Kenny Schrader plus Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR’s Bill
Elliott and Ross Kenseth, son of NASCAR’s Matt Kenseth coming to race
against the CRA regulars such as Johnny VanDoorn, Scott Hantz, Rick
Turner, Kenny Tweedy, Tommy St. John, Jason Shively, Jason Dietsch and
Terry Fisher, Jr. For more information about Anderson Speedway see
