"I really have to thank the crew, those guys really
worked hard, my sponsors, NOS Energy Drink, Toyota and all the others,
and the fans that came out tonight, I know many of them have to get to
work tomorrow, and to have a crowd like this on a Monday is great."
Busch commented. "I really like this track, it widened out more
than I thought it would at first glance."
The large crowd of fans at Anderson on Monday was
treated to strong racing throughout the field with drivers fighting
for track position every lap. The racing between, Hoffman, Turner,
Pierce, VanDoorn, Barnes, Jr. and Scott Hantz was particularly tight
with each trying to find a way past the other.
Many different strategies were used during the half
way break. At lap 150 the race was stopped with all cars coming to the
pits for fuel and tires. After the break the cars were restarted in
the order they finished the first half with the exception of those
that took two tires started in
front of those that took three tires,
with those that took four next. Hoffman took only two, putting him on
the front at the restart. Busch was the first of the cars that took
four. He worked his way back to the front chasing down Hoffman to
retake the lead on the 190th lap. He then worked through
the lapped traffic to build a strong lead.
The strategy was working well for Hoffman until late
in the race when the engine started sputtering while running second
and Turner working to get past him, trying both high and low. Hoffman
dropped back and finished the race 10th one lap down.
Turner received the ARP Bodies Cool Move of the Race for finishing
second despite racing with a bent wheel the last several laps.
Busch won one of the Hoosier Racing Tire Performance
Awards, with Kenny Tweedy winning the other moving from his 20th
starting position to finish seventh on the lead lap. Tweedy also took
the Lane Automotive/ISKY Racing Cams Hard Charger Award. By leading at
the halfway break Busch won the Kingen Interstate Express Halfway
Leader Award. This is Busch’s second win in a CRA Super Series
sanctioned event following his victory at Speedfest in January.
Boris Jurkovic took the
EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier Award. Tyler Roahrig took his second K&N
Filters Rookie of the Race Award of the season, finishing ninth the
last car on the lead lap. The VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap of the Race
Award went to Scott Hantz for turning the fastest lap during the race
running a 12.410 second lap in traffic.
Busch will be racing against CRA Super Series
drivers again on August 14th at Toledo Speedway and again on August 23
at the famed Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
The next event for the CRA Super Series will be the
Radisson Hotel Riverfront Grand Rapids 125 at Berlin Raceway, Marne,
MI on August 8. For more information about the CRA Super Series see
