ashville, TN (July 21, 2008) –
Two-time CRA Super Series Champion Scott Hantz continued his hot
streak in getting his fourth win of the season in the All American 150
at the Music City Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville,
Tennessee. Hantz got to claim his first ever Copley Guitar Trophy on a
very hot July Sunday afternoon were the heat index was over 110 on pit
road, but there was plenty of hot
racing
action on the track.
"Roll your windows up and turn on
your heater on all the way up going down the road and that is how hot
it was in the car," commented Hantz. "This is the first time I
have finished in the Top Ten at Nashville. This is great to finally
win a race here!"
With the victory Hantz extended his
series points lead as he goes for a series record third Championship.
With the victory Hantz moves into a tie with Brian Ross as the series
all time victory leader with 22 wins. Ross is also tied with Hantz
with two series Championships.
Veteran Louisville, Kentucky racer
Keith Gardner took the early lead from his pole starting position and
led the first 42 laps before slipping up a little allowing Boris
Jurkovic to power by on the inside to take the lead on lap 44.
Jurkovic held the lead until lap 64 when he suddenly slowed giving the
lead to Florida native Justin Drawdy. Jurkovic would have to pit
because of overheating and eventually dropped out of the event.
Drawdy and series veteran Rick Turner
put on a show racing side by side for the lead several laps before
Turner got sideways, made a great save, but lost second place to a
hardcharging Hantz who had worked his way through the field from his
18th place starting position. Hantz also raced several laps
side by side with Drawdy, before finally getting underneath and making
the pass on lap 96. Hantz would pull away at the end to get the
victory over Florida’s Ryan Crane who came from 14th place
and had to work for several laps to get second away from Turner who
would eventually finish third. Each of the top three finishers now has
a guaranteed starting spot in the November 2nd CRA Super
Series Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 event in Nashville.
Dennis Schoenfeld finished in sixth.
Gardner held on to finish in seventh after his car went away late in
the race. Hartsville, Tennessee native Zach Taylor finished in eighth
earning him the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race Award, his fourth
such award of the season. Jason Shively finished in ninth earning the
ISKY Racing Cams/Lane Automotive Hardcharger Award after gaining 19
positions in the event coming from his 28th starting
position. Johnny Brazier finished in tenth, he was the Appleton Rack &
Pinion Fast Qualifier of the 34 cars that took times for the event.
Justin Drawdy earned the
RaceTrailerSales.com Halfway Leader bonus. Shively and his crew earned
the ARP Bodies Cool Move Of The Race Award for making a pit stop for
adjustments to his racecar, and then coming through the field to
finish in ninth place and a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award.
Gardner was the VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap Of The Race Award winner
turning a fast lap of 19.038 in the event. Hantz received a Hoosier
Racing Tire Performance Award, the Fatheadz.com Winner Award, the
Holley Performance Award and a Schoenfeld Headers Great Finish Award.
