Rick Turner Wins Ivy Tech 125 At Anderson Speedway
Anderson, IN (June 16, 2008) – CRA Super Series veteran
racer Rick Turner, nicknamed the Y-Town Hustler, got his second CRA
Super Series victory of his career Sunday evening in the Ivy Tech 125
Presented By Great Deals at Anderson Speedway. Turner survived a tough
battle that saw several cars damaged by multiple cautions including
Brian Rievley who made hard contact with the outside wall on lap 101
while leading Sunday’s event after contact from a lap car. Rievley’s
went to the tail handing the lead to Turner who was hot on Rievley’s
tail at the time of the incident. Turner then cruised to the victory.
"It was lap cars, cautions and tight racing out there
tonight," remarked Turner. "I have to thank my crew and my
sponsor, Great Deals and all my friends that came out to watch us
tonight!"
Jeff Lane jumped
out
to the early lead from his outside front row starting position before
his day ended on lap 16 after hitting a car that spun directly in
front of him. That handed the lead over to Rievley who extended his
lead at one time up to 20 car lengths, but Turner chased down Rievley
in lap traffic putting himself in position to get the lead after
Rievley’s unfortunate incident. Turner’s first series victory was also
at Anderson Speedway in August of 2005.
Appleton Rack & Pinion Fast Qualifier Jason Shively finished in
second, his best ever finish with the CRA Super Series. Shively also
turned the fastest lap of the event earning the VDL Fuel Systems Hot
Lap Of The Race Award. Series point’s leader Scott Hantz came back
from an early caution to race through the field and claim third with
his damaged racecar, earning him the ARP Stock Car Bodies Cool Move Of
The Race Award. Hantz now has two wins and two thirds in the series
first four events of the season and has a 43-point lead over Turner.
Boris Jurkovic also battled back through the field after suffering
damage in a couple of incidents to finish fourth earning him a Hoosier
Racing Tire Performance Award. Rievley, the series 1998 Champion,
battled back to finish fifth in his damaged racecar. Rievley was the
Kingen Interstate Express Halfway Award Leader. Aaron Pierce finished
in sixth and claimed his first K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race Award.
John VanDoorn finished seventh with Terry Fisher Jr. in eighth
after starting 20th, earning him the Lane Automotive/ISKY
Racing Cams Hardcharger Award and a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance
Award. Al Cook Jr., subbing for brother Tommy Cook who was out
recovering from some minor surgery, finished ninth with Sean Matthuis
tenth. Two drivers making their first ever series starts had good days
with Brandon Fagin finishing 12th and David Flynn 13th.
The next CRA Super Series event will be the 7th Annual
Elmer Musgrave Memorial Presented By Texas Corral this Saturday at
