Anderson, IN (April 21, 2008) - Veteran
modified driver Tony Dager set
second
fast time, started ninth, slipped through the field to win the first
Howe CRA Sportsman race he started at Anderson Speedway on Saturday
night. Dager took the lead just before halfway passing Anderson
Speedway regular Brandon Phillips. Dager never looked back to get the
win
"I really like the Howe CRA Sportsman series right
now!" Dager remarked from Victory Lane. "This is the first
time I have raced a late model type car, and it was fun! I usually
race modifieds, and this was different, but with the win I really
enjoyed today’s race."
Dager beat Neal Richardson, a veteran Baer Field
Speedway racer, who was visiting Anderson Speedway for the first time
and new track record holder Nick Lay for the victory. John Marshall
finished
fourth and Rick Rinehart came in fifth.
Charlie Hanna ran up through the field from his 15th
starting position when he was passing for third place slipped up high
and got the wall in the third turn on the 64th lap. The
race was marred with 13 cautions, with the 22 cars racing on the tight
quarter mile speedway.
2007 Howe CRA Sportsman Champion Billy Hutson had a
rough night after spinning from a bump early and later having his car
stuck in gear before battling back and finishing eighth.
Mark Soots was in driving place of Jeff Ellis and
took his ride home in tenth place
after
starting 19th to get the Racing Electronics Hardcharger
Award. His teammate Ric Pfeiffer finished sixth, in a tight bunch
chasing Dager. Soots and Pfeiffer also each won a heat race. Lay
was the Holley Performance Fast Qualifier Award winner.
The next event for the Howe CRA Sportsman Series is
Sunday, May 4th at Winchester Speedway. Also racing will be
the CRA Street Stocks, the ARCA Lincoln Welder Truck Series and the
Vore’s Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compacts. More information on the
