""I was mentally out of the car yesterday, I was so
focused on promoting the race," remarked
Gabehart. "Last night I told myself today I would get my head
back into it and give a good hour to getting the car ready in
practice, and then once we got the old rubber off the track during the
race the car hooked up and it was good."
Gabehart got to start on the pole, after qualifying
in at fourth quick when Appleton Rack & Pinion Fast Qualifier Evan
Jackson, who led 16 drivers that broke the previous track record, drew
a four for the event’s inverted start, but 15 year old Green Bay,
Wisconsin native Andy Hanson
jumped into the lead from his outside pole starting position and
looked like he would run away with the victory in the first round of
the possible $50,000 to win CRA Super Series Triple Crown.
Hanson continued to lead the event on several
restarts, pulling away sometimes by as much as six car lengths when he
suddenly spun on lap 35 after his motor locked up, handing the lead to
second place running Gabehart. Series 2007 Rookie Of The Year winner
John VanDoorn chased Gabehart all night, but could never mount a
serious challenge and would finish in second. VanDoorn entered the
event 62 points behind Gabehart in the series championship points
battle, and remained 62 points behind after the event with only one
points event left in the 2007 season.
Jackson would hold off 2004 series champion Chuck
Barnes Jr. to finish in third. Barnes Jr. finished in fourth in a team
car to Gabehart. Justin Drawdy finished in fifth in the Florida
native’s first ever race at ORP. Dennis Schoenfeld would finish in
sixth, Rick Turner in seventh, Robbie Pyle in eighth, Jeff Fultz in
ninth and Keith Gardner in tenth. Gardner was the Lane Automotive/ISKY
Racing Cams Hardcharger Award winner, advancing 17 positions from his
27th place starting position.
With the victory Gabehart has a chance to collect a
$50,000 bonus if he can win the other two Triple Crown events, the
Winchester 400 on October 14th at Winchester Speedway and
the Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 at the Music City Motorplex
in Nashville on November 4th. If he cannot win the next two
races, the first driver to win two of these events will receive a
$10,000 bonus. And if no one wins more than one event, the driver that
accumulates the most points over the three events will earn a $5,000
bonus leaving this award still very much up for grabs.
Drawby and Gardner each won a Hoosier Racing Tire
Performance Awards. Gabehart won the Kingen Interstate Express Halfway
Leader Award, the Schoenfeld Headers Lap Leader Award, the
Fatheadz.com winner’s award and the Holley Performance Award.
Jeff Cannon won the Speed Media Best Looking Car
Award. Fultz won the Sweet Manufacturing Sweet Move of the Race Award
by racing through the field after pitting early and restarting at the
tail to finish ninth. The VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap of the Race Award
went to Hanson for a lap of 21.890 seconds. The RV Performance Rookie
of the Race Award went to VanDoorn.
Sean Matthuis won his first CRA Super Series race
taking the Lucky Dog 15 lap Last Chance race Saturday afternoon. Brian
Rievley won Friday’s 25 lap Qualifying Race. "After I really screwed
up in qualifying I felt like I better get out there and show what this
car is really able to do." Rievley commented after the win.
The next event for the CRA Super Series will be the
36th Annual Winchester 400 Presented By Ed Martin Auto
Group and Renegade with the Winchester 400 Weekend on October 12-14th
at Winchester Speedway. More information is available at

Gabe
Cerny stated on the outside of the front row, grabbed the lead and
never let up to win the CRA Howe Sportsman race at the Circle Track
Nationals. Cerny built a large lead in the first 30 laps before the
first caution flag flew for a spinning car. With the field
bunched up after the restart second place Jeremy Wallen pushed Cerny
for the last ten laps trying high and low but was unable to get past
with Cerny earning the win. Current points leader Billy Hutson was
third, Justin Alsip fourth and David Fretz fifth.
"I really did not want to see that yellow flag with
10 to go." Cerny stated, "I knew Jeremy was back there and with
him restarting right behind me I was a little nervous. But my
crew worked hard and the car was great, so I just drove as hard as I
could."
The season ending event for the Howe CRA Sportsman
will be during the Winchester 400 Weekend at Winchester Speedway on
October 12. For more information see

After being nearly unbeatable in the CRA Street
Stock Series for much of last year
Beau
Mitchell has had some rough races this year, dropping out of a few
races during the early part of this season. But that changed
last week at Winchester when he won the Winchester 200 for his first
victory this year, and followed that up with a win at the Inaugural
Circle Track Nationals CRA Street Stock 40 lap race. Bobby Murany
finished a close second following a late caution that bunched up the
field and took away the huge lead Mitchell had amassed. Steve
Blair was third, Calvin Parham fourth and Joe Williamson fifth.
"We were not that fast all weekend, only qualified
seventh, but starting on the front row helped, and I smoothed out
myself. I used one of my favorite phrases, go faster by slowing
down, I stayed under control and just drove as smooth as I could."
Mitchell remarked in victory lane.

will be during the Winchester 400 weekend at Winchester Speedway on
