Blair and Miles Jr. Pick Up Exciting CRA Wins At Anderson Speedway

Anderson, IN (July 15, 2007) – A great summer evening welcomed the competitors and fans to Anderson Speedway Saturday night as both the Howe CRA Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks were in action in heats and 75 lap feature events.

The Howe CRA Sportsman started off the night’s features with an action packed event. Tim Greene jumped out to an early lead with Charlie Hanna and Terry Fisher Jr., right behind. Fisher Jr. and Hanna made contact resulting in both cars spinning causing the first of five cautions on the night. The race resumed with Fisher Jr. and Hanna on the tail. Rick Rinehart followed Greene until lap 53 when the two leaders were forced three wide by a lapped car going into turn one. Greene got up in the marbles and spun out, giving the lead to Rinehart.

After a couple more cautions Rinehart lead until a restart on lap 55 when Steve Blair made dive to the inside going into turn one forcing Rinehart high resulting in Blair taking over the lead. Rinehart showed his displeasure with Blair’s pass by tapping the back of Blair’s car several times, hoping to get by and retake the lead. Rinehart’s car fell back as the laps whined down giving Blair the victory.

"I told the car owner I was going to just ride around until about 20 to go and go for it," remarked Blair. " There was that long green flag run and I just stayed out there riding and waiting.  When we got to 20 to go things just happened right and I got out front."

Rinehart held on to finish in second with Charlie Hanna battling back through the field to finish in third. Tim Greene also came back through the field to finish in fourth, Fast Qualifier Zach Hulvey finished in fifth. Point’s leader Billy Hutson finished in 8th place.

Bubba Trinkle and Terry Fisher Jr won the 10 lap heat races.

32 cars started the CRA Street Stock feature with Jacon Owen grabbing the lead at the drop of the green flag from his pole starting position. The first caution flew at lap 11 when series points leader Shaun Bonar had his car catch on fire from a fuel leak. Bonar made it back out for the restart, but was black-flagged when fuel continued to leak from the car resulting in a 29th place finish.

The top three cars of Owen, Beau Mitchell and Bret Miles Jr., who moved up to third quickly from his 8th place starting position, ran in a pack in a very long green flag run. Miles Jr. first got past Mitchell for second, then closed in on Owen making a pass for the lead in the backstretch on lap 41. Miles Jr. would go on to get the victory by two car lengths over Owen

" I love to run with these guys, everyone always races clean, and they are the best, winning against them really means something," stated a very happy Miles Jr. in victory lane. "I have to thank all my sponsors and especially my mom and dad for giving me this great opportunity!"

Miles Jr. was the 2006 Rookie Of The Year in the Anderson Street Stock Division picking up four victories along the way. Saturday was the third generation driver’s first time back in a street stock this season, he has been competing in a limited schedule with the Great Deals Racing Team in the CRA Super Series late models were he scored a surprising second place finish in the Anderson 125 Presented By Great Deals on June 9th at Anderson Speedway.

Beau Mitchell held on to finish in third, Anderson regular Willy Dehart finished in fourth, Calvin Parham in fifth. The night started off bad for the CRA Street Stocks when a blown motor on the second lap of the first heat in leader Bubba Trinkle’s car caused a 10 car pile-up that caused three cars to scratch from the feature event. Phil Evans won that first 10-lap heat, Bobby Murany won the second ten lap heat. Kyle Flynn won the 15 lap Last Chance race. Bret Miles Jr. was the Fast Qualifier in the 40 cars that attempted to make the event.

The Howe CRA Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks will be back in action at Winchester Speedway as part of the King Of The Wing Presented By Pier Mac Plastics show on Sunday, July 22. More information can be found at www.craracing.net.
