Scott, Hutson,
Trinkle and De St. Jean Get Wins At Winchester Speedway
Winchester, IN (June 11, 2007)
– A beautiful bright sunny day welcomed the fans attending Sunday’s
Randolph County Fan Appreciation Day Presented By Anchor Glass
Container with
four
exciting feature events. Rodney Scott got the victory in the
O’Reilly’s Auto Parts USA Modifieds Ludco Gun Shop 50, Billy Hutson
got his first ever feature victory with the Howe CRA Sportsman in the
Anchor Glass Container 40, Bubba Trinkle got his first ever feature
victory with the MAX 93.5/96.7 CRA Street Stocks in the MAX 40, and
Greg De St. Jean claimed his first ever Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD
Compact victory in winning the Vore’s Welding & Steel 20.
Rodney Scott powered
his way to the front of the field passing Bobby Murany to take the
lead then pulled away for a commanding victory in the Ludco Gun Shop
50 for the O’Reilly Auto Parts USA Modifieds. Scott, a former series
champion and several time winner at Winchester Speedway, was the class
of the field in the 27 car-starting field. Brad Springer would work
his way through the field to get second, Murany held on to finish
third, Jason Dietsch finished in fourth with Rodney Scott’s dad Harold
in fifth. Tim Taylor won the Modified Dash, while Murany and Tony
Dager won the heats.
Billy Hutson came out
on top in a very tough battle in the Anchor Glass Container 40 for the
Howe CRA Sportsman. Steve Blair got the early lead from his front
row
starting spot and managed to hold that lead until Bobby Dager got past
on lap 9 coming from his sixth place starting position. Rick Rinehart
then worked his way through the field from his ninth place starting
position to take the lead on lap 22 only to have Hutson decide he
wanted the lead on lap 27. Hutson would first hold off Rinehart for
several laps, even surviving a brush with the outside retaining wall
in turn one, then a hard charging T.J. Fisher who came from his 10
place starting position to challenge Hutson over the final laps, but
Hutson would hold on to get the victory. Fisher was second with Dager
third, Gabe Cerny in fourth and Blair in fifth. Quay Gregory and Rick
Tackman Jr won the 10 lap heat races while T.J. Fisher was the Fast
Qualifier. The Howe CRA Sportsman next event will be on Saturday, July
14th at Anderson Speedway.
Bubba Trinkle has
been making the long haul from Jeffersonville, Indiana to compete with
the CRA Street Stocks for two seasons, he had always been competitive,
but could never get in position to get a victory, that all changed
Sunday afternoon. Jeff Perry would used his front row starting
position to get the early lead but was closely followed by Trinkle who
was running second after the first lap followed by 2005 series
Champion Dean Baker who was third. Perry would lead the first 10 laps,
but his car got loose going into turn one on lap 11, he then spun on
his own handing the lead to Trinkle. Trinkle would lead the rest of
the way, but had Baker on his tail the entire way finishing in second
despite no power steering. Chuck Cook came from 11th to
finish in third, Shawn Bonar from 15th to finish in fourth
and Josh Burton from 13th to finish in fifth. Trinkle, John
Robinson and Larry Matillo won the 10 lap heat races while Calvin
Parham was the Fast Qualifier. The CRA Street Stocks next event will
be at Plymouth Speedway on Sunday, June 24th.
Chris Jennings appeared to get the
victory in the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD
Compact 20 lap feature,
but Jennings failed to pass post-race tech inspection, which handed
the victory to Greg De St. Jean. Derick Young finished in second,
Randy Owen in third, Bill Leisure in fourth and Troy Timms in fifth.
Pole starter Rick Siggers and point’s leader Young accepted the R & R
Liquors Safe Driving Challenge and fell to the tail in an attempt to
win the event and claim the $300 bonus offered by R & R Liquors. Young
got close with his second place finish while Siggers dropped out on
lap 19, which means the R & R Liquor Safe Driving Challenge will be
worth $400 at the series next points event on Sunday, August 12th
at Winchester Speedway.
Racing action will return to historic
Winchester Speedway on Sunday, July 22 for the Third Annual King Of
The Wings Sprint Car Challenge Presented By Pier-Mac Plastics
featuring the country’s top Winged Sprint Car drivers. Go to
