Jackson, Lane and
Mitchell All Get Wins at Winchester Speedway
Winchester, Indiana (August 14,
2006) – Three different drivers found victory lane at Winchester
Speedway on Sunday afternoon including Danny Jackson in the ARCA
Lincoln Welders Truck Series, Jeff Lane in the CRA Outlaw Super Late
Models, and Beau Mitchell in the MAX 93.5/96.7 CRA Street Stocks.
Danny Jackson, the 2005 Rookie Of The
Year with the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series, made only his second
with that series this season, both starts have resulted in wins for
Jackson, driving for owner AJ Pate. Jackson, who is racing fulltime in
the CRA Super Series this season and is currently the leader in CD-2
Rookie Of The Year points, was the fast qualifier Sunday, came from
his 5th place inverted starting position, but would not
have gotten the win without some luck. Kyle Partridge had over a half
lap lead when a late caution on lap 47 bunched up the field with
Jackson in second place. On the restart Partridge could not come to
speed with a blistered tire allowing Jackson to take the lead with
Nick Gullatta close behind. Gullatta charged underneath Jackson in
turn three coming to the checkers. The two were side by side coming
out of turn four banging off each other all the way to the finish line
were Jackson would take the closest victory, .047 seconds, in series
history.
"Anytime you get in AJ’s truck you
know you’re going to have the best piece under you. We had a little
help today, but it doesn’t matter. When you drive for AJ, you always
have a shot at the win, " remarked Jackson in victory lane.
Danny Jackson is the son of long-time
ASA and Late Model competitor Dave Jackson from Loveland, Ohio. Dave
has put his racing on hold in an effort to get Danny’s racing career
started. Sunday was a good day for that effort for the Jackson family.
Knightstown, Indiana native cruised
to victory in the inaugural CRA Outlaw Super Late Model event held
Sunday on the High Banks of Winchester Speedway. Lane, driving for
legendary crew chief and car owner Bill Rievley, was the events fast
qualifier, narrowly missing his track record he set last season, and
came from his sixth place starting position to get the win over former
Winchester 400 winner Bobby Parsley. Veteran Kenny Tweedy held the
early lead before contact with the wall in turn one ended his day,
giving Lane the lead on lap 6 of the 50 lap event. It was the second
win for Lane in an Outlaw Late Model at Winchester Speedway.
Massillon, Ohio native Tim Sibila finished in third, Cord Ehrhart was
fourth with Zach Hulvey in fifth.
Owensboro, Kentucky native Beau
Mitchell got his third straight MAX 93.5/96.7 CRA Street Stock victory
Sunday, but he had to work extra hard for this one. Mitchell, the
events fast qualifier, started in tenth place in the 26 car field, but
had to go to the tail of the field after a flat tire on the first lap
of the event. Mitchell steadily worked his way through the field to
take the lead on lap 24 and lead the final 16 laps to get the victory.
Brian Hopkins finished in second, Mike Riddle Jr. in third, Chuck Cook
in fourth and Mike Miller in fifth. Miller led the first 23 laps
before being black-flagged to the tail for a time violation.
The next event at Winchester Speedway
will be the rescheduled Kenny Irwin Memorial Presented By Pier-Mac
Plastics for the USAC Sprint Car Series on Sunday, August 27th.
The event was originally scheduled for June 11th, but was
postponed because of weather. The MAX 93.5/96.7 CRA Street Stocks and
CRA Sportsman Series will also be in action. Go to
www.winchesterspeedway.com to purchase advanced tickets or for more
information on that event.
