Brian Campbell
Overcomes Inversion to Win At Kalamazoo Speedway
Kalamazoo, MI
– Wyoming, Michigan driver Brian
Campbell overcame his seventh place starting position to take the lead
from early-leader Chris Gabehart on the 63rd circuit of the CRA 125
Presented By Boyne Machine, Curtis Marketing and Hoosier Tire Friday
night at Kalamazoo Speedway. He would hold the lead through a
series of late race restarts to claim his first win in the CRA Super
Series by a margin of 1.299 seconds over Scott Hantz, the current
series points leader, Andy Ponstein, and Tim Curry who rebounded from
a late spin to finish fourth. Jack Landis came home fifth after
a terrific lead battle with Gabehart early on. Tommy St. John,
currently second in points finished in sixth, while Gabehart fell back
to seventh, Eddie Van Meter was eighth, JR Roahrig was ninth with
former ASA Racing Series competitor Robbie Pyle in tenth.
With the victory Campbell also picked
up The Wax Shop $800 Clean Sweep Award for being the Appleton Fast
Qualifier and getting the win. Campbell was the fastest of the 28 cars
on hand, but drew a seven for the inverted start. Campbell picked up
both the Fatheadz.com winner and fast qualifier awards. Also with the
victory Brian Campbell and his father, legendary Michigan late model
driver Fred Campbell, are the only father and son to have victories in
the CRA Super Series.
Hoosier Racing Tire Awards were
earned by Tim Curry and Eddie Van Meter. Johnny Belott was the ISKY
Racing Cams/Lane Automotive Hard Charger Award winner, coming from his
22nd place starting position to finish in 11th.
Chris Gabehart was the RaceTrailerSales.com Halfway Leader Award
winner. Danny Jackson was the CD-2 Rookie Of The Race Award winner.
Andy Ponstein was awarded the Sweet Manufacturing Sweet Move Of The
Race Award for some nice late passes in getting his third place
finish. Bud Gebben, owner of the Brian Campbell car, was the Marvel
Mystery Oil Mechanic Of The Race Award winner.

Brian Campbell Sets New Track Record in Qualifying
Wyoming, MI driver Brian Campbell set a new track
record in qualifying, with his lap of 12.975 seconds, en
route to his position atop the speed charts in
qualifying. Following Campbell were Bobby Parsley
with a 13.160 second lap, Jack Landis and Andy Ponstein
with identical 13.184 second laps, and Tommy St. John at
13.212.

Campbell Draws to Invert 7, Scott
Hantz on Pole
Fast Qualifier Brian Campbell drew a seven in the
invert draw, putting Scott Hantz on the pole, and Chris
Gabehart to his outside. The rest of the top 5
starters for tonight's feature are Tommy St. John, Andy
Ponstein, and Jack Landis.

Bobby Parsley Fastest in Practice
On a warm and sunny Friday afternoon in Kalamazoo,
Bobby Parsley recorded quick time in practice with a
13.307 second circuit. Behind him on the speed
charts were Brian Campbell (13.340), Andy Ponstein
(13.394), John VanDoorn (13.434), and Jack Landis
(13.478) rounding out the top five.
