Also moving through the field in an impressive fashion were fellow rookies Frank Kreyer and Danny Jackson. Kreyer started 25th , had to moved to the rear after having to pit with a damaged right front fender, Kreyer moved back up to 11th.  Jackson started 30th and moved up to 17th

Ignition problems ended solid runs from series rookie Steve Moenck and veteran Greg Boone, both were running up in the money pushing forward when they were forced to drop out.

There was one lead change, 8 cautions for a total of 34 laps, and no red flags. Frank Kreyer was the Backstretch Performance/Reed Cams/Blake Carburetion Rookie of the Race Award winner.
