Eddie VanMeter has entered the 30th Annual World Figure 8
Championship at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis
Speedrome on September 9, 2006.
Eddie’s
a former Indianapolis Speedrome Stock Champion will be
fielding Doug Grieg’s Late Model in the run for the World
Figure 8 Championship. Eddie is a 4-Time Speedrome Figure
8 Feature winner and a 5-Time Speedrome Oval Feature
winner. Eddie will be sponsored by Muller Waste Equipment
Sales & Skiles Country Auto Parts.
In 1977 they said this race couldn’t be run, a three
hour-long Figure 8 contest. No car will last and no driver
will last is what everyone said. Now in its thirtieth
anniversary year, the World Figure 8 Championship is a
racing classic. Over the years 13 drivers have held the
crown and while 492 different have tested the crossover in
this event. Last year Bruce Tunny won his third World
Title after out-dueling his brother Bill Tunny Jr and top
rookie Mark Harmon. Over 50 drivers from 7 states will
challenge the Speedrome for the record $30,000 winner’s
check.
The 30th Annual World Figure 8 Championship is September
7-9 at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome. A
