Indianapolis, IN (September 17, 2005) – Keller Motorsports
and Tommy St. John have Rockford on their mind as they prepare for
their first visit to the historic ¼-mile facility in northwestern
Illinois. The 40th Annual National Short Track
Championships is next on the agenda and St. John is anxious to get
his first look at the track.
"I have heard a lot about the track and this event. Some of the top
CRA teams missed the race last year because of all the local guys who
come to this race. I hope that it is as close to Anderson as everyone
says it is. We were pretty fast the last time we were there and we
will start off with the same setup," said St. John.
Below are some of the questions recently been submitted through
Tommy’s web site,
www.tommystjohn.com.
Where do you see your racing career taking you in the next 3 years?
"Right now, it is all about the sponsorship. My goal is to get to
the NASCAR Trucks or Busch series. I am going to go wherever a
sponsorship will take us."
With your family’s history at the Indianapolis Speedrome and in
figure-8 racing, why didn’t you go that route?
"I really enjoy watching racing at the Speedrome but that was not
the direction I wanted to go. I wanted to get more into oval
track verses figure-8 racing. It is great place to visit but I
thought racing oval track and competing in a series would be better
for me to get noticed."
How does your car owner feel about the way you have been running
this year?
"I think he is happy. We have been running a lot better than some
of our finishes show. Last weekend was another example. We had worked
our way up to 9th then we were spun by the #45 car with
less than 20 laps to go. The first Winchester race we could have won
but ended in a crash. I think I am doing better than what he
expected."
What kind of sponsorship are you going after for next year?
"Hooters, ASA, CRA, or ARCA, whatever comes first."
How do you think the CRA series has helped you and your career
develop?
"It has definitely helped me! The series has so many great drivers
and goes to so many different tracks; it has really helped me learn
how to race a stock car."
