Loves Park, IL (September 18, 2005) - The 40th Annual National
Short Track Championships Presented by Chicago International Truck,
will feature 15 divisions of racing with 1,029 laps of feature racing
action.
On
Thursday, September 22nd, the four-day event will kick off with
qualifying at 8:30 p.m. for the RoadRunner and Winged Women on Wheels
division. At 9:15 p.m., the first feature event will start with a
24-lap Super Cup feature event. Then at 9:30 p.m. it?s a 58-lap
Humongous Hornet Swarm.
Day
two, Friday, September 23rd, will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with
qualifying for the Big 8 Series, Grand Nationals, American Short
Trackers, RoadRunners, and Winged Women on Wheels. The racing action
will commence at 7:07 p.m. with qualifying races followed by six
feature events: Winged Women on Wheels (24-laps), American Short
Trackers (40-laps), Big 8 Series (58-laps), Midwest Modifieds
(40-laps), Grand Nationals (40-laps), and RoadRunners (40-laps).
Fans
and competitors are encouraged to visit the Budweiser Pavilion after
the races where entertainment will be provided by North/South
Connection.
It
will be a big day on Saturday, September 24th. "Faster than a Speeding
Bullet" qualifying will start at 2:30 p.m. for the CRA Super Series,
ASA Late Models, Northern Late Models, Mid-American Series,
Mid-American Trucks, Area Sportsman, and Hobby Stocks.
The
top 20 qualifiers in the CRA Super Series will be locked into the
250-lap main event on Sunday. Positions 21-24 will from either the top
two finishers in each of the two qualifying races on Saturday night,
or top four of one qualifying race depending on how many cars attempt
to qualify for the event. Positions 25 and 26 will be the top two CRA
Super Series teams in the owner points that have not yet qualified for
the feature event. Position 27 will come from a 25-lap last chance
race on Sunday while position 28 will come from the "Lucky Dawg" draw
of the drivers who have not yet made it into the main event.
The
ASA Late Model Series qualifying will set the fields for the four
25-lap "Smackdown" Qualifier Heat Races on Saturday night. The top
five in each race will be locked into the Rockford "100". The next
four positions will be determined by the 2005 Owner Point standings.
The final two spots are reserved for Past Champions or the fastest two
drivers not locked into the 100-lap event. A total of 26-cars will
take the green flag. After qualifying, the pits will be open for
a FREE Open Pit Party until 6:00 p.m. This will be a great opportunity
for fans to see how the teams will be prepping for the evening races.
The
racing action will begin at 6:36 p.m. on Saturday night with
qualifying races and three NSTC Championship Feature events for the
Area Sportsman (40-laps), Northern Series (150-laps) and Hobby Stock
(40-laps).
After
the races, everyone is invited to the Budweiser Pavilion with
entertainment provided by the Runabouts.
The
final day, Sunday, September 25th, will start at 10:30 a.m. with an
on-track autograph session. Driver Introductions will commence at
11:45 a.m. with racing starting at 12:30 p.m. with Last Chance races.
That will be followed by: Mid-American Truck Feature (50-laps),
Mid-American Stock Car Feature, ASA Late Model Rockford "100" and the
CRA Super Series 250-lap main event.
