Kenny Tweedy To Drive For
Veteran Sunoco Super Series Car Owner Floyd Fehl
Several New Faces To Compete
With The Series This Sunday
Salem, IN (September 9,
2004) –
1997 Sunoco Super Series Champion Kenny Tweedy will driver for
veteran Sunoco Super Series car owner Floyd Fehl beginning this Sunday in
the Federated Auto Parts 150 at Columbus Motor Speedway. Tweedy has
competed
in selected Sunoco Super Series events over the past three seasons after
competing full-time for several seasons including claiming the series
championship in its inaugural 1997 season. Tweedy has 8 wins with the
series including a win at Angola Motor Speedway last season. Tweedy also
has 11 Fast Qualifier Awards and 36 top five finishes in his Sunoco Super
Series career.
Floyd Fehl has been an owner
with the series since it’s first season in 1997. This season rookie Bud
Adams had been put behind the wheel of the Bailey Trucking/C & P Machine
Chevrolet, but had suffered through a string of bad luck that included
four straight DNF’s before a season best 5th place finish at
Baer Field Speedway on August 12th. Fehl has decided to put
Tweedy in the car for Sunday’s show, if the team works well together,
Tweedy could finish the season in the #6 Fehl Racing entry.
There are several other
drivers that will make there first ever appearance with the Sunoco Super
Series this Sunday. ASA Racing Series driver Robbie Pyle, a native
Columbus resident who now lives in Chicago, is currently 4th in
ASA Racing Series points for Waltom Racing. Pyle has four wins with the
ASA Racing Series over the past three seasons including a win this season
on June 5th at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. Pyle will be
piloting the #89 Citgo/Howe Racing Enterprises/Waltom Racing Chevrolet.
The car is an ASA Late Model Series car with a Chevrolet crate engine. The
car was recently driven to victory lane by Pyle’s teammate Stephen Leicht
on August 21st at Calhoun County Speedway.
Powell, Ohio native Mike
Rush will make his Sunoco Super Series debut Sunday also in an ASA Late
Model Series car. The former Columbus Motor Speedway Outlaw Late Model
competitor has driven in five ASA Late Model Series events this season
with 1 top ten finish.
John Stroble from London,
Ohio will make his series debut Sunday, Stroble competed this season at
Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in there late model division were he
finished 8th in points. Spencerville, Indiana’s Jason Shively,
a former Track Champion at Baer Field Speedway and Louisville, Kentucky
native Kyle Hadley will also make their series debuts. Hadley is currently
8th in Salem Speedway Late Model points.
Pit gates will open for the
2nd Annual Federated Auto Parts Buckeye Bash Presented By
Country Legends K95.5 this Sunday at Columbus Motor Speedway at 7:30AM
Ohio time. Practice will begin at 10AM with qualifying at 12Noon. The race
program will begin at 2PM and will include the Federated Auto Parts 150
for the Sunoco Super Series, the Sizzle Marine 75 Presented by Germain
Chevrolet Outlaw Late Model Invitational and the BPS Superstore 50 lap
Ohio Street Stock Championship.
