Annual Ed Martin Auto Group Winchester 400

– The famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway are ready to host
this weekends 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group Winchester
400. The prestigious
400-lap
event is the culmination of a great weekend of racing starting Friday
through the 400 lapper on Sunday afternoon.
" It’s going to be a great weekend of
racing," remarked R.J. Scott with Champion Racing Association, the
promoters of Winchester Speedway for owner Charlie Shaw. "Even with
the forecast of some cooler temperatures we are 100% committed to
racing this weekend. There are a lot of fans and racers making long
drives for the event, we are not going to let a little cold weather
hold up the show. Get out the winter clothes and come enjoy the racing
and the fun of the 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group
Winchester 400 Weekend!"
The CRA Super Series will be
sanctioning the 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group Winchester
400 for the third time and it will be the season championship event
for the series. Point leader Scott Hantz heads a list of talented CRA
Super Series regulars that will be looking to add their name to the
prestigious list of winners of the Winchester 400. 1999 Winchester 400
winner Brian Ross will be looking to get back into victory lane along
with 1998 series champion Brian Rievley. CRA Super Series regulars
entered who have also had success on the High Banks in the past
including Bull Baker, Jeff Lane, Evan Jackson, Chris Gabehart, Tommy
St. John, Kenny Tweedy, Eddie Van Meter, Jim Crabtree Jr. and Rick
Turner. Also two time Wisconsin Challenge Series Champion
Nathan
Haseleu is entered. Nashville native Zach Taylor in a Chet Blanton
owned car, Alabama late model racer Augie Grill driving for his
father, famed car builder Frankie Grill. North Carolina natives Jeremy
Pate and Clay Jones, Florida hot shoe Mike Fritts and Wisconsin racer
Robert Maynor.
The 35th Annual Ed Martin
Auto Group Winchester 400 Weekend will kick off on Friday, October 13th
with open practice for all divisions competing during the weekend from
2 to 6:30pm. Round one of qualifying, locking in positions 1 through
24 for the 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group Winchester 400
will kick off the evening’s events at 7pm along with the 20 lap
Modified All Star Challenge and the Culy Construction 40 CRA Sportsman
Season Championship event.
Saturday, October 14th
will start with practice again for all divisions competing on Saturday
and for the cars already locked in through first round qualifying for
the 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group Winchester 400 from
11am until 3:15pm. Qualifying for the support events will begin at
3:15pm with Second Round qualifying for the 35th Annual Ed
Martin Auto Group Winchester 400 that will lock in positions 25
through 30 at 5pm. The nights racing action will follow qualifying and
will include a 75-lap event for the CRA Outlaw Super Late Models, the
"Run for the Gun" 50-lap Modified event featuring the best of the USA
Modifieds versus the best of the American Modifieds and the 50 lap
Season Championship event for the CRA Street Stocks. After the racing
is over Saturday night there will be a party in the pavilion with live
music starting at around 8:30pm until who knows when!
Sunday, October 15th will
be the final day of the 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group
Winchester 400 Weekend and will start with warm-up sessions for the
CRA Super Series late models at 10:45am. The entire starting line-up
will then be staged on the front stretch and all the fans will be
invited to come on to the track for an autograph session featuring all
the drivers racing on Sunday starting at 11:30am. Pre-race ceremonies
will start at 12:30pm. The 35th Annual Ed Martin Auto Group
Winchester 400 is scheduled to go green at 1pm.
Camping will be available at
Winchester Speedway starting on Thursday, October 12th on a
first come first serve basis with a $20 camping fee for the whole
weekend.
