Barnes Jr. To Make
NASCAR Busch Series Debut At Memphis Motorsports Park
Louisville, KY (October 19, 2006) –
Louisville, Kentucky native Chuck Barnes Jr. will make his NASCAR
Busch Series debut in the October 28th Sam’s Town 250 at
the Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, Tennessee. Barnes Jr. will
driver for TC Motorsports, owned by Tammy and C.E. Clower of
Loganville, Georgia. Barnes Jr. has driven in two ARCA RE/MAX Series
events for TC Motorsports this season with a victory in his first
start at Toledo Speedway on September 1st, beating now
eight time series champion Frank Kimmel in a green, white checker
finish and got a fourth place finish in his second series start at
Salem Speedway on September 16th, coming from the back of
the field after an early flat tire in the event to finish in fourth.
"I’m really excited about making my
NASCAR Busch Series debut later this month in Memphis," remarked
Barnes Jr. "I have to thank Tammy and C.E. Clower and everyone with TC
Motorsports for giving me this great opportunity. This is another step
up the ladder, and I realize the competition gets better every time
you move up. We just need to really come prepared and be ready to do
what it takes to make that race."
Barnes Jr. and the TC Motorsports
Team tried to make the ARCA RE/MAX Series season ending event at Iowa
Speedway last weekend, but qualified 34th, missing the cut
for the event by only two positions.
"Last weekend was really tough. We
only got limited practice because of a blown motor, it really put us
behind on getting the car set up to make the race. There were a lot of
good teams at last weekend’s ARCA event, we just didn’t have things go
our way. I felt if we had made the race my team could have made the
car better as the race went on and I could have really been
competitive at the end. Bad luck is an unfortunate part of racing, we
just have to learn from what happened and go on to the next race."
The competition will also be tough
for the Sam’s Town 250 NASCAR Busch Series event with four NEXTEL Cup
Chase drivers entered for the event including newly crowned 2006
NASCAR Busch Series Champion Kevin Harvick, along with Kasey Kahne,
Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch. Also entered is ex-Indy Car and Formula
One star Juan Pablo Montoya will make his NASCAR Busch Series debut
for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
"Our goal is just to make the race
and run all the laps to get as much experience as I can. It’s a dream
come true to be able to race with great racers like Kevin Harvick,
Kasey Kahne and all the rest of the great drivers that will be in this
race. Hopefully with some luck we can make the show and run decent. It
will definitely be a learning experience, hopefully I will get the
opportunity to show I can compete at this level."
The TC Motorsports Team has raced in
three NASCAR Busch Series events to date and is currently 91st
in series points. Besides his ARCA RE/MAX Series starts this season,
Barnes Jr. was the 2006 Late Model Points Champion at Salem Speedway
this season and won his fourth CRA Super Series event in May. Barnes
Jr. was a finalist in last seasons Roush Racing Search For Driver X,
he was the 2004 CRA Super Series Champion and the winner of the
prestigious All American 400 late model event in November of 2004 at
the Music City Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.
