Wednesday, October 26, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - Rockford Speedway is
gearing up for the last big racing event of the 2005 season with the
final day of the 40th Annual National Short Track Championship
presented by Chicago International Truck. Track officials have
released the schedule of events for Saturday.
The
track pits will be open on Friday, October 28th from 4-8:00 p.m. to
pre-park haulers.
On
Saturday, October 29th, the Pit Gates will open at 7:00 a.m. followed
by Spectator Gates opening at 9:30 a.m.
A
two-hour "Happy Hour" practice session will begin at 10:00 a.m. for
all four divisions racing on Saturday.
The
racing action will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the CRA Super Series Last
Chance Race. Following that, the first of four feature races will
begin as Stephen Leicht will the field for the start of the ASA Late
Model Series "100". Leicht will be surrounded by three Rockford
Speedway veterans in Ryan Carlson, Ricky Bilderback, and Tom Gille.
Fans will see some great racing from the start of this event. Leicht
just needs to start the race to pick up the Series Championship.
After
crowning the ASA Late Model Series NSTC Champion and Series Champion,
the CRA Super Series will take on the high-banked oval for the Chicago
International Truck 250. Defending Champion Eddie Hoffman starts on
the pole and will set his sights on defending his crown. It will come
down to the checkered flag to determine not only the NSTC Champion but
the CRA Super Series Champion as well. Currently, only 58-points
separate the top-four in points. Jeff Lane currently holds a 33-point
lead over Eddie Van Meter. Bobby Parsley sits in third, 37-points back
while Hoffman is only 58-points out of the top spot.
The 5
& Drive Mid-American 75-lap feature will follow the CRA Super Series.
Jeremy Miller hopes to defend his 2004 NSTC Championship. Also, Peter
Hernandez, who just returned from his "Drive to Diversity" tryout,
will look at taking that championship away from Miller.
The
Mid-American Truck 30-lap feature event will close out the 40th Annual
NSTC racing as well as the 58th Season of racing at the Rockford
Speedway.
"This
is the LAST BIG EVENT of 2005, we hope to see you there. The weather
they are forecasting for Saturday will be ideal to come out and watch
this great event." stated Rockford Speedway General Manager Gregg
McKarns.
