"CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY" AT NSTC

Wednesday, October 19, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - Mother Nature's
victory back on September 25th at the Rockford Speedway caused
officials to delay the final day of the 40th Annual National Short
Track Championships Presented by Chicago International Truck until
Saturday, October 29th.
The
delay has turned the event into a "Championship Saturday" as Season
Champions will be crowned in the CRA Super Series, ASA Late Model
Series, Mid-American Series and Mid-American Trucks.
The
CRA Super Series has a close point battle with two events remaining on
their schedule. Their champion will be crowned following the 250-lap
main event at the Rockford Speedway. Jeff Lane has a 33-point lead
over Eddie Van Meter going into this weekend's CRA event at Salem
Speedway. Bobby Parsley sits 37 points back from Lane while defending
NSTC champion, Eddie Hoffman, is only 58 points back. Hoffman is
scheduled to start on the pole for the main event on the 29th.
Stephen Leicht is hoping to make his Busch Series debut this weekend
in a Robert Yates Ford at Memphis. Then it's back to Rockford where he
is scheduled to start on the pole for the ASA Late Model Series
100-lap feature event. The 18-year-old pilot from Asheville, NC
currently holds a 180-point lead over Brian Campbell.
Bill
Prietzel holds a 225-point lead over Jason Taghikhani going into the
final race for the Mid-American Series. Prietzel is hoping to cap off
the season by taking the checkers in their 75-lap event.
Mark
Storlie has a comfortable 227-point lead over Tony Holm going into
their 30-lap main event for the Mid-American Trucks. Storlie was part
of a classic battle with Charlie Cottam at Oktoberfest in La Crosse,
but felt short at the checkers. Storlie also hopes to cap off season
with a victory.
The
final day of the 40th Annual National Short Track Championships
presented by Chicago International Truck takes place on Saturday,
October 29th at 12:30 p.m. Reserved tickets are on sale now by calling
the track's office at (815) 633-1500 or you can visit the track's
