The Hurricane
Ready For The Mason-Dixon Meltdown and Snowball Derby
Salem, IN (November 22, 2006)
– 2006 CRA Super Series Champion Scott "The Hurricane" Hantz will
spend his Thanksgiving Weekend in South Boston, Virginia competing in
the first ever Mason-Dixon
Meltdown
sanctioned by the PASS South Series. The 250 lap late model portion of
the Meltdown will pay the winner $12,500. Hantz, who has become
accustom to racing almost year round, did not get much time to
celebrate his 2006 CRA Super Series Championship before hitting the
road to race in several end of season big late model events which will
include next weeks Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola,
Florida.
The Angola, Indiana native claimed
his 2006 Championship with an exclamation point by winning the return
of the prestigious Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway on Sunday,
October 15th, the season championship event for the CRA Super Series.
Hantz tied Brian Ross as the only two time and multiple champion in
the ten year history of the highly competitive CRA Super Series. Hantz
was series champion and rookie of the year in 2000.
Hantz started his off season big
event trek at the All American 400 at the Music City Motorplex at the
Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee were he competed against 72 of the
top late model teams from around the country. Hantz would qualify 11th
for the event and would finish 16th, the first car a lap
down after running with the lead pack through out most of the 200 lap
CRA Super Series sanctioned event.
"We just missed the set-up a little
at Nashville," remarked Hantz. "I’m lucky that my car owner, Dick Poe,
likes for us to travel to these big off season shows. We really like
racing those type shows, they always bring out the best racers in the
country. The competition in the CRA events during the season helps us
prepare for these big events. I’m looking forward to racing at South
Boston, and I always enjoy racing in the Snowball Derby, we just need
to win one of these to cap off a great year!"
The Richard Poe Motorsports Team will
carry sponsorship help from EMF Corp, Electric Mills, Race-Tech
Engineering, and FLF Racecars. Hantz’s car owner is also the owner of
Angola Motor Speedway located in Angola, Indiana, a regular stop for
the CRA Super Series. More information is available on Scott Hantz at
