Indianapolis, IN (November 1, 2005) – Driver Tommy St. John
and Keller Motorsports showed again why their team is deserving of the
2006 Rookie of the Year Championship by logging their 5th
top-10 finish of the year at the season-ending Chicago
International Trucks 250 at Rockford Speedway. Additionally,
the 9th place finish at Rockford should have advanced St.
John one position to 9th place in the final 2006 CRA Super
Series Championship Points.
Race talk with Tommy St. John, driver of the No. 29 Tri-Axle
Trucking Chevrolet:
You are now officially the 2006 CRA Super Series Rookie of the
Year. How does that title sound?
"That sounds great! Overall we had a pretty good year. We had some
really good races where we were very competitive and some average
races where the car was just too tight. It is good to finish the
season and have a car with hardly a scratch on it. I would like to
thank my crew, Steve Keller and especially my dad for all of their
hard work and support!"
Looking back at the season, what one race stands out to you?
"The first Winchester race is the one that stands out the most. I
think I have replayed that race in my head a thousand times! We were
just riding in a position to win with 5 laps to go when Barnes and
Fisher got together in turn one and I had no place to go. The car was
just perfect that race and I really thought and still think I could
have won that race. I really am looking forward to going back to
Winchester next year!"
With the CRA, you competed on tracks that you had never raced on
before. What track would you be okay with if it was not on the 2006
CRA schedule?
"Probably Berlin. It is a tough track and the locals seem to
dominate. It is frustrating when a local guy shows up and laps most of
the field. I am sure we will be better next year and hopefully give
the locals a run for their money."
Are you ready to give a speech at the Banquet for winning the
Rookie of the Year title?
"I hope they let me talk. I have a lot of people to thank!"
