Tommy St. John Is The
2005 FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Year

– Indianapolis, Indiana native Tommy St. John, driver for Steve Keller
Motorsports, has won the 2005 FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of
The Year
Award
joining an elite group of racers who have won the award with the
series over the past eight years. Past winners of the award include
Spanks Overbeck in 1998, Peter Cozzolino in 1999, Scott Hantz in 2000,
Joel Kauffman in 2001, Andy Ponstein in 2002, Chuck Barnes Jr. in 2003
and Chris Gabehart in 2004.
St John’s adjusted point total came
to 1132 points, each registered rookie got to drop their to worst two
finishes during the season. St. John’s total points included one
no-show when mechanical problems kept the team from making the
Columbus Motor Speedway event. St. John claimed seven Cometic Gasket
Rookie Of The Race Awards during the 2005 season helping him secure
the Rookie Of the Year Award. St. John finished ninth in overall 2005
CRA Super Series points in his first full season in asphalt late model
competition.
Independence, Missouri teenager Billy
Crane finished in second in the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of
The Year standings with 1038 adjusted points. Crane continued to show
improvement on the track through out the 2005 season, and was by far
is the leased experienced racecar driver of the top rookie candidates
competing with the series in 2005. Crane was the Cometic Gasket Rookie
Of The Race Award winner at the Berlin Raceway event on August 20th.
Boris
Jurkovic finished in third in the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie
Of The Year standings with 761 adjusted points. Jurkovic recorded five
Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Race Awards and was the winner of the
series event at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway on April 30th.
Jurkovic finished in 13th position in final CRA Super
Series 2005 points.
Jason Shively is finished in fourth
in the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Year standings with
632 points that included one Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Race Award.
Shively finished 15th in final CRA Super Series 2005
points.
Patrick Lawson finished fifth in
rookie points with one Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Race Award, Jeff
Bland Jr. in sixth, Jason Setser finished in seventh with two Cometic
Gasket Rookie Of The Race Awards including the season opener at
Anderson Speedway and at Berlin Raceway were he finished second and
was the events fast qualifier. John Nutley finished in eighth, the
only other competitor to register for the Rookie
Of
The Year Award in 2005.
Tommy St. John will be officially
awarded the FLF Racecars/Cometic Gasket Rookie Of The Year at the 2005
CRA Super Series Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 7th at
the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. St. John will be
awarded a Chassis from FLF Racecars, a $500 Product Certificate from
Cometic Gasket, a body from Five Star Racecar Bodies, an Internet Site
from Speed Media, a carburetor from Blake Carburetion, a racing cam
from Reed Cams, a $500 Product Certificate towards a Racing Uniform
from Hinchman Racing Uniforms, a set of restraint belts from Impact
Racing and another $1000 in Product Certificates from several sponsors
