ARC Racing Engines, the newest racing
engine builder in the Indianapolis area, has signed to be a Contingency
Sponsor with the Sunoco Super Series for the 2003 season. ARC Racing
Engines will pay out a $250 bonus to any Sunoco Super Series racer who
wins a regular series event using an ARC Racing Engines engine. ARC
Racing Engines will pay a $500 bonus to any Sunoco Super Series racer
who wins the Anderson 400 or the Car-Brite 400 using an ARC Racing
Engines engine.
ARC Racing Engines just
recently opened its doors for business in Brownsburg, Indiana, just
outside of Indianapolis. ARC Racing Engines is owned and operated by
veteran racer Chet Blanton and veteran engine builder Allen Robbins,
who formerly worked for K-Motion.
Blanton started racing at
four years old in quarter midgets. He then competed in anything from
street stocks to late models in the Hoosier State. Blanton has made a
handful of starts in the ASA Racing Series and the ARCA RE/Max Series.
Blanton has been a regular fixture in the Sunoco Super Series since
1998 and experienced his best season in 1999, when he produced two
top-ten finishes and finished 12th in the standings. In 2001, in a
limited schedule, Blanton recorded two top-ten finishes in 11
appearances. In partial competition in 2002, Blanton finished 23rd in
the final point standings, making nine starts. Blanton plans to
compete with the Sunoco Super Series again in 2003.
“I have told people for
years that the Sunoco Super Series offers the best racing of any
touring series in this region,” remarked Blanton. “We opened this
business because we felt there was a need for a quality engine builder
in the Indianapolis area, not only for the Sunoco Super Series but
many other forms of racing in this area. We believe in giving back to
the racers who support us, that is why we are offering the bonuses for
drivers winning with ARC Racing Engines!”
