CRA Super Series To Be
Part Of Twin 100’s Memorial Day Weekend Event At Toledo Speedway In
2007
Salem, IN (December 19, 2006) –
Toledo Speedway and CRA Super Series officials have announced that
the CRA Super Series will be a part of the Twin 100’s Memorial Day
Weekend event at
the
famed Toledo Speedway in 2007. The event is set to take place on the ½
mile banked oval on Sunday, May 27th. The CRA Super Series
will have a 100-lap event and will be companioned with a 100-lap ARCA
Glass City Gold Cup Series Outlaw Late Model event.
"We are very excited about returning
to Toledo Speedway again in 2007 and having the ARCA Glass City Gold
Cup Series racing with us," remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner of
the CRA Super Series. "It is a great format that offers fans the
opportunity to see the best of both types of late model racing
competing on the same night. Just as it has in the past this event
will have several drivers that will compete in both divisions.
Needless to say, as usual it will be a very exciting night of racing
at Toledo Speedway!"
The CRA Super Series has now had
eight events at Toledo Speedway since August 4th, 2000 when
Harold Fair Jr. won his first ever CRA Super Series event. Canadian
racing legend Junior Hanley has had the most success at Toledo
Speedway with the CRA Super Series, capturing one win in 2001 and one
win in 2002. Joel Kauffman won his first ever CRA Super Series event
in May of 2002 at Toledo Speedway on his way to winning the 2002 CRA
Super Series Championship. Veteran Michigan driver Fred Campbell
cruised to victory at the CRA Super Series event at Toledo Speedway in
2003, taking over the lead from Jeff Lane on lap 24 to get the win.
Jeff Lane beat Scott Hantz in a very exciting event in 2004 that
featured several laps of side by side racing action for the lead of
the event. Johnny Belott beat Eddie Van Meter in a classic
side-by-side battle that ended early because of rain in 2005.
Last seasons A.P. Racing Engines 100
for the CRA Super Series at Toledo Speedway was originally scheduled
for Sunday, July 2nd, but was postponed until Friday night,
August 4th because of weather. In that event 2006 CRA Super
Series Champion Scott Hantz got his first CRA Super Series win of the
2006 season for his Richard Poe Motorsports Team, taking the lead from
JR Roahrig on lap 76 then holding off Eddie Van Meter to get the win
by just over 2 seconds. Roahrig held on to finish in third, Johnny
Belott in fourth with Chris Gabehart in fifth.
The Memorial Day Weekend will be a
rare double-header weekend for the CRA Super Series with an event on
Saturday at Berlin Raceway on Saturday, May 26th and the
Toledo Speedway event a short drive across Michigan on Sunday, May 27th.
Toledo Speedway will make arrangements for teams to get in the track
early on Sunday, May 27th in order for teams to prepare for
that event after racing on that Saturday night.
