Salem, IN (December 5, 2006) – Champion Racing Association officials, in conjunction with Berlin Raceway officials, have announced that the CRA Super Series will race an event at Berlin Raceway again in 2007. The track, which is located in Marne, Michigan, about 8 miles west of Grand Rapids, has had one of the top short track programs in the Mid-west for several years. The challenging 7/16-mile oval has been the proving grounds for several great racers including former ASA Racing Series Champion and NASCAR veteran Johnny Benson. The CRA Super Series will race a 125-lap event at Berlin Raceway on Saturday, May 26^th of Memorial Day Weekend in 2007.

Allegan, Michigan native Tim Curry won a thrilling and action packed Berlin 125 CRA Super Series event on May 27^th, 2006 at Berlin Raceway. Curry, whose business had kept him out of a racecar in recent years, showed no signs of rust, first breaking the track record in claiming the Appleton Rack & Pinion Fast Qualifier Award, then winning an exciting battle on the track against Scott Hantz and Billy Shotko to get the victory. The three drivers exchanged the lead several times during the event, with Curry making the winning pass on lap 121 to claim the emotional victory.

The past four seasons Berlin Raceway has become a fixture Michigan event with the CRA Super Series, which has helped attract numerous participants from that state to compete with the CRA Super Series. Five of the top six finishers in the 2006 CRA Super Series event at Berlin Raceway were from Michigan. Besides winner Tim Curry, Alec Carll of Grand Rapids finished in third, Greg Usher of Comstock Park finished in fourth, Michael Gaier of Coldwater finished in fifth and Billy Shotko of West Olive in sixth.

Other Michigan drivers who participated with the CRA Super Series in 2006 include Brian Campbell of Wyoming, who won the series event at Kalamazoo Speedway in July, Andy Ponstein of Jenison, John Van Doorn and Brian Wiersma of Coopersville, Dan Vander Molen of Grand Rapids, Terry Van Haitsma of Hudsonville, Andrew Conklin of Spring Lake, Tom Hernly Jr. of Lansing, Bobby Murany and Johnny Belott of Mt. Morris, Doug True of Dowagiac, John Long of Niles, as well as Jeff and Phil Bozell of Kalamazoo.
