Chuck Barnes Jr. To
Compete In Speedfest 2007 For C & C Motorsports
Louisville, KY (December 29, 2006) –
Chuck Barnes Jr. will compete in Speedfest 2007 on January 26th
and 27th at USA International Speedway in Lakeland,
Florida. That event, co-sanctioned by the CRA Super Series and
Florida’s Sunbelt Super Late Model Series, will consist of twin 100
lap events on Friday, January 26th, one for the North teams
and one for the South teams. The top ten finishers in each of those
events will be locked into the 200 lap finally on Saturday, January 27th.
That event will pay a minimum of $10,000 to win.
Barnes Jr., the 2004 CRA Super Series
Champion and winner of the 2004 All American 400 as well as a winner
with the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2006, will be racing for C & C
Motorsports out of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Goldsboro businessman
Curtis Venable owns C & C Motorsports and is the owner of C & C
Construction and WearCrete Diamond Concrete Polishing. Barnes Jr.
competed in Speedfest 2006 for C & C Motorsports, finishing 13th
in the 200-lap event.
"I’m looking forward to competing in
Speedfest 2007 and racing at USA International Speedway again,"
remarked Barnes Jr. "I greatly appreciate Curtis Venable giving me
this opportunity, we weren’t planning on racing that event, but Curtis
called and offered me a ride in one of his cars. Last years race was
my first with C & C Motorsports and my first ever in a Hamke Chassis,
hopefully this year we can get the car hooked up and challenge for the
win in both the 100 lap and 200 lap events."
C & C Motorsports has grown into one
of the top multi-car late model racing teams in the country. Barnes
Jr. will have veteran racer Jeff Fultz, a multi-time late model
Champion in the now defunct NASCAR Elite Southeast Series, and
Goldsboro native Clay Jones as teammates for Speedfest 2007. Fultz
competed in last season’s Speedfest in his own car, but was caught up
in an early incident in the North 100 lap event that ended his
weekend.
This will be Jones’s first time ever
at USA International Speedway. Jones has shown lots of promise in
special events this season, he was battling for the lead on lap 380 of
the Winchester 400 when contact caused his car and fellow leader Chris
Gabehart to crash. Jones also qualified well for the highly completive
All American 400, but had his day end on lap 51 with engine problems.
"It will be neat to work with Jeff
and Clay, I have a lot of respect for Jeff he is a veteran racer that
has competed on lots of racetracks against many of the best drivers in
the country. He has experience in a late model as well as a stock car
in the ARCA and Hooters Pro Cup Series. Clay definitely has shown he
has the talent to race at this level, with some good luck I think he
could be a top challenger at Lakeland."
Barnes Jr.’s #55n C & C Motorsports
