CRA Super Series To
Visit I-70 Speedway Again In 2006
Salem, IN (December 23, 2005)
– CRA Super Series officials and I-70 Speedway
officials
have announced that I-70 Speedway will host a CRA Super Series event
again in 2006. The CRA Super Series has sanctioned the World Cup late
model extra lap event at I-70 Speedway the past two seasons, in 2006
however, I-70 Speedway will host a 100 lap CRA Super Series regular
points event on Saturday night, August 19th.
Because of the extra travel involved
with the event for most CRA Super Series teams, I-70 Speedway
officials have agreed to pay out additional money over what is
normally paid for a series 100 lap event. The one day event will pay
$4000 to win and $500 to start, plus any CRA Super Series team in the
top 50 in current series points at the time of the race will be
eligible for a minimum of $100 in additional travel monies, the total
amount of travel money for each team will depend on the number of
teams in the top 50 that come to the event.
Last seasons I-70 Speedway series
event featured one of the most exciting finishes of the 2005 season.
2005 CRA Super Series Drivers Points Champion Jeff Lane patiently
worked his way from his seventh place starting position to take the
lead from veteran short track racer Steve Carlson on lap 120 and led
the rest of the way to win the Kenny’s Tile World Cup 150 at I-70
Speedway on Saturday, October 1st. Lane had to fight off a hard
charging Eddie Hoffman, who had also worked his way past Carlson in
the late laps. Hoffman was glued to Lane’s bumper over the last 10
laps, he tried to pass high and low, but was never able to make it
around Lane. Hoffman finished a close second only .162 seconds behind
Lane. Carlson finished in third followed by Ryan Mathews in fourth
with 16-year-old Landon Cassill in fifth.
The I-70 Speedway CRA Super Series
events have become great battles with good cars counts on the
challenging high banked ˝ mile track located in Odessa, Missouri. Last
season’s event had total of 39 cars sign in for the event with a great
amount of local support including ninth place finisher Dave Wilson of
Greenwood, Missouri, eleventh place finisher Joe Ross from Kansas
City, Missouri, fourteenth place finisher Brian Woods from Leawood,
Kansas, and twentieth place finisher Kevin Foster from Lea Summit,
Missouri.
