McGunegill Sealed Engines Take Two of Top Five Spots in 2005 Snowball Derby

Muncie, IN (December 6, 2005) - The future of high powered, lower cost racing took a great leap forward this weekend, when all three teams using the low cost and guaranteed McGunegill Sealed Engine made the impressive starting field for the 38th Annual Snowball Derby in Pensacola, FL. In fact, McGunegill Sealed Engines finished third with Clay Rogers, and fifth with Bobby Gill. Teen sensation Landon Cassill was running third with 20 to go, but was taken out by another competitor while battling for the victory. This is the second year in a row that Cassill has used the McGunegill Sealed Engine to make his way into the prestigious Snowball Derby.

Legendary Short Track driver Bobby Gill made his first start with the MEP Sealed engine and was elated after the event. "This is a great package," stated Gill, "Its one of the most ‘drivable’ engines I have ever raced." Gill was driving for Bobby Blount, who had J.R. Norris in his car at Nashville, where they just missed the pole and lead a major portion of the historic All American, before running out of gas on a long green flag run. Car owner Blount has become a real believer in the MEP Sealed Engines. "I can’t afford to spend $35,000 on a competitive 9 to 1, and the deals we used to get buying the old Busch engines are all gone. This is definitely how we get racers back to the track with a more affordable option. It doesn’t obsolete what everyone else has; it is just a fair and affordable alternative that gives anyone a chance to win. Plus, it is a guaranteed engine, if a rod or crank breaks, I don’t have to worry about the cost to fix it. That is how great and reliable this package is."

McGunegill Engine Performance (MEP), with the co-operation and guidance from Super Late Model officials at Champion Racing Association (CRA), has worked to produce a competitive Sealed Engine at a fraction of the cost of a top flight 9 to 1. In the 2005 CRA season, drivers Rick Turner, Jeff Lane, and Billy Crane made all the shows, and each have commented that the low cost and reliability of the MEP Sealed Engine are the only reasons they were able to do that. In 2005 CRA competition the MEP Sealed Engine compiled three wins in a season where the series saw an incredible 14 different winners in 17 races with all different types of engine packages being represented in victory lane. In addition, the MEP Sealed Engine helped propel Jeff Lane to his first CRA Championship in what became the CRA’s most competitive season ever.

The MEP Sealed Engine package is guaranteed for a year and sells for $13,500 or leases for $7,995 per year. Both the cost and the guarantee are industry changing traits that MEP has been at the forefront of developing for Super Late Model racing. The MEP Sealed Engine is similar in performance to today’s top 23/18 degree 9 to 1’s or Southern Steel Head 750 engines. Lease packages are also available for single or multi-event needs.

In 2005, the MEP Sealed Engine was approved for competition in the CRA Super Series, Southern All-Stars, FASCAR Sunbelt Series as well as approved for events like the All-American 400 in Nashville, January’s "SpeedFest" at USA International Speedway in Lakeland Florida, the World Series during "Speedweeks" at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida and, obviously, the Snowball Derby.
