Special from United Super Late Model
Rules Alliance
Recent Dyno Test Proves to be Very
Informative for Pavement Super Late Model Racing
The United Super Late Model Rules
Alliance took another step towards parity last week, with an extensive
round of engine Dyno testing. The effort was headed up by well-known
southern short track Technical Inspector Ricky Brooks, with assistance
from CRA Chief Technical Inspector Eddie Chew. Six engines were
impounded immediately following the 44th Annual Snowball Derby on
December 4th, and delivered by Brooks to the shops of RW Racing
Engines in Kodiak, Tennessee. RW’s owner Robbie White led the Dyno
test. Well known Engine Builder Jeff Hamner was also in attendance.
Snowball Winner Chase Elliott’s was among those tested, along with the
motors from Augie Grill, Bubba Pollard, Mike Garvey, Grant Enfinger,
and Josh Hamner. The engines represented each package allowed under
current USRA rules.
The data acquired in the recent Dyno
tests supported the current specifications allowed, with the only
minor adjustments being made to the Florida Spec Engine, which was in
Garvey’s car. Also tested was a combination that could eventually
replace the current Steel Head Engines; a move that could drastically
reduce Engine costs. This new package that was tested would still be
open to any builder. Brooks and the Alliance would like to thank all
the Teams for participating in this test, and a special thanks to
Robbie White for making his shop and Dyno available. |
