Indiana native makes preseason
appearance behind the wheel at SpeedFest 2012
CORDELE, Ga. (February 6, 2012) - Champion
Racing Association driver Terry Fisher Jr. has big plans for his
2012 season, which kicked off earlier than anticipated last week
as he took over as a driver at SpeedFest 2012 at Watermelon
Capital Speedway in Cordele, Ga.
Fisher Jr. was originally asked to crew
chief for James Holton, driver/owner of the no. 82 machine. As the
weekend wore on and Holton worried about his ability to qualify
for the race, Fisher Jr., with more super late model experience
and a CRA points provisional spot, was asked to drive in Holton’s
place. In his first race at the Cordele, Ga. track Fisher finished
the race in 21st.
With the last minute driver change it
took Fisher Jr. a little while to settle in to the car.
"That was our first time at Watermelon
Capital Speedway, we were struggling with the handling of the car
and it probably took me 20 laps to find the groove in the track,
so it was a slow start, but we picked it up," remarked Fisher Jr.
"It would be fun to come back in the future with my own car. With
a bit more preparation and what we know now we could be really
good here in the future."
As summer nears Fisher Jr. is preparing
for another season with the ARCA/CRA Super Series and looks
forward to making a run for the point’s championship. Fisher is
coming off of a third place overall points finish, which is his
highest points finish in his nearly 10 year Super Series history.
"Last season I had my first super late
model win about midseason and then we ran into some bad luck, this
year is going to be all about consistency. I really want to win
the points championship and I think if I can win a few more races
and stay consistent I’ll be able to achieve that. I’m really
looking forward to starting out at Anderson Speedway, I have a lot
of experience there and I’m ready to get the season underway."
