Special from Lorz Motorsports
Lorz Motorsports & Wes Griffith Jr., Head
to Berlin Raceway for the Berlin 100 Presented by JEGS.com
Midlothian, IL (September 8, 2011) -
A different, but familiar car number for Wes Griffith Jr., was the
switch that Lorz Motorsports Car Owner, Mike Lorz was hoping would
turn around the 2011 racing season for his driver as well as his team.
After running the first seven races of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour
Presented by GM Performance Parts season in the #76, a change to
Griffith Jr.’s old #33 was the call for the eighth race of the series’
inaugural season.

The fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved
oval of Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan was the site for Race #8 for
the JEGS/CRA/GM series over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend on September
3rd. Going into the Big "O" Classic 100 Presented by
JEGS.com, the 43-year-old was sitting in 10th in the season
long points chase in the Salem, Indiana based series’ inaugural
season.
After a disappointing qualifying effort that
would force Griffith Jr., to start deep in the field on the outside of
the 10th row, the Crown Point, Indiana driver steadily
worked his way up through the pack when a Power Steering Line failed
halfway through the 100-lap feature. In the end, the 43-year-old would
muscle the #33 Lorz Motorsports Ford Fusion to a 13th place
showing, the last car on the lead lap.
"We had some bad luck at Owosso! Things went
good in practice and then we made a change to the car before
qualifying, but it didn’t help, so we had to start 20th."
Explained Lorz. "Wes moved up through the field, but after the power
steering line developed a hole in it, he had to use his "cannons" to
finish the race. It could have been worse, but we got decent finish
out it."
The next JEGS/CRA/GM race on the 2011
schedule is set for Saturday, September 10th at the
historic Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne,
Michigan for the running of the Berlin 100 Presented by JEGS.com. "The
Lorz team is ready to go and so is our driver. It’s time to attack
Berlin with all that we’ve got! I hope we can get good finish there to
stay in the top ten in points." Lorz ended.
Heading into the 7/16s (0.437) mile
semi-banked paved oval in Western Michigan, Griffith Jr., is now tied
for 10th in the season long points chase with Rookie Jimmy
Novak. So far in 2011, Griffith Jr., has scored one top 10 finish,
which was an eighth place showing at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch
Run, Michigan back on June 17th. In six of the eight races
conducted so far, Griffith Jr., has scored at least a top 15 finish.
For Berlin, Griffith Jr., will climb behind
the wheel of the #33 Gorilla Glue Ford Fusion and he’ll carry
additional sponsorship support and decals from;
A.S.I.
Adhesive Systems, Edca Auto Body, Marcotte’s Bar & Grill, Auto Meter,
ISC Racers Tape, Behling Racing Equipment, Aurora Bearing Company, R2C
Performance Air Filters, M.P.H. Promotions, and Lorz Motorsports.
