CONCORD, NC (September 20, 2011) – What began as a one-race deal
for Daniel Hemric and the Carswell Motorsports team in Super Late
Model competition has blossomed into the addition of three
high-profile races to the new driver-team pairing’s schedule to close
out the 2011 season.
Fresh off a fourth-place finish at Georgia’s
Gresham Motorsports Park in their first race together, Hemric will
finish out the Super Late Model season behind the wheel of the Jake
and Deanna Carswell-owned number-98 in the CRA Super Series events at
Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 2nd
and the historic All-American 400 at the Nashville Fairgrounds on
October 30th. Hemric will also pilot the Carswell 98 in the
28th Annual World Crown 300 at Gresham on November 13th,
an event that the 98 team won in 2010.
"It’s really hard to even put into words how
excited I am," said the 20-year-old Kannapolis, North Carolina native
Hemric. "Last week, going into it, it was just a one-time deal. No one
knew what to really expect. Everyone had high hopes for success, but
in the back of your mind, you never know. To run as good as we did and
for everyone to work as well together as we did made everyone leave
there on a high note.
"I’m really pumped up to lead into Lucas Oil
here in two weeks. I think we have a really good shot to contend for
some wins here late in the season in the next few races that we’re
going to run together. I’m just really, really blessed to be a part of
such a great team and great people. It’s a family organization and I
think it’s really going to fit me well."
Hemric instantly meshed with the
family-based Carswell Motorsports team because they race with similar
philosophies.
"They didn’t start with much when they
started this deal a few years ago with Justin (Wakefield, the team’s
previous driver). They didn’t know much and they all learned together.
That’s kind of the same way that I’ve gone about my whole racing
career. I’m just learning as I go and trying to get better every time
I show up to a racetrack. They go off pretty much the same motto."
The CRA races at Lucas Oil and Nashville, as
well as the World Crown 300, will have stacked fields of the top
talents in short track racing. Hemric’s competitive nature wouldn’t
have it any other way.
"Any time we go to a racetrack, we try to
pick the toughest ones to go to," said Hemric. "It’s not any different
as far as our plan, though. I’m just excited to be with this team to
be able to battle with Bubba (Pollard), Augie (Grill), Chase (Elliott)
and the rest of the people that do it week in and week out.
"We have three definite races. That’s more
than we can say I’ve had in the past. Up to this point in my Late
Model career, it’s been a spur-of-the-moment deal pretty much every
time we go to race. This time, I’ve got three set dates and I can set
my calendar. My hopes are to run well, run up front and run with the
best guys in the country and be able to contend for wins."
While Hemric has added three Super Late
Model events to his racing schedule, he will also add one Crate Late
Model race to his schedule as well. Hemric has been preparing a car to
compete with in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Winchester
Speedway (IN) on Saturday, October 15th. The car, which is
being prepared in the shop of Jeff Fultz Racing in Mooresville, North
Carolina, will run the number 98 in a reverse white and blue paint
scheme to the Carswell blue and white 98 Super Late Models.
The CRA Super Series event at Lucas Oil
Raceway in Indianapolis will be the first of Hemric’s next races in
the Carswell 98 on Sunday, October 2nd. Then comes the JEGS
Tour event at Winchester on October 15th. He’ll be back in
the Carswell machine on October 30th at Nashville
Fairgrounds Speedway for the All-American 400. Hemric will then finish
out the season in the Carswell 98 on Sunday, November 13th
in the World Crown 300 at Jefferson, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports
Park.
