Six-Pack Tour at Gresham Motorsports Park Saturday
Salem, IN
(September 13, 2011) – The CRA Super Series will head south this
weekend with the CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour back in action this
Saturday in the Easy Racers 100 George Elliott Memorial at Gresham
Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia. The event will be the third
event in the CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour that has had two events to
date beginning with SpeedFest 2011 at Lanier National Speedway in
January were Chase Elliott got the win and The Rattler at South
Alabama Speedway in March were Grant Enfinger went to victory lane.
Gresham Motorsports Park, formally know as Peach State Speedway, went
through a multi-million dollar renovation
two
years ago that made that facility one of the premier short tracks in
the country.
Saturday’s
event has attracted a stellar field of late model competitors led by
15 year old Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR great Bill Elliott and
grandson of George Elliott. The Dawsonville, Georgia teenager is
currently second in CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour points with his victory
at Lanier to Enfinger, but Enfinger is not entered for Saturday’s
event, he will be racing with the ARCA Racing Series where he is
competing for that series Championship. Elliott comes into Saturday’s
event on a hot streak in late model competition after sweeping CRA
events at Dixie Motor Speedway on August 19th with the CRA
Super Series and at Winchester Speedway on August 20th with
the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Elliott is a development driver for famed
NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick and is competing full-time in the NASCAR K
& N Pro Series.
Ross Kenseth,
son of NASCAR Champion Matt Kenseth, is also entered. Kenseth has two
CRA Super Series victories this season along with wins with the ASA
Midwest Series. Ryan Blaney, son of NASCAR competitor Dave Blaney is
also entered for Saturday race. Blaney is currently second in PASS
South points with two wins and is fourth in CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour
points, he was the 2010 CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour Champion.
Also entered
is Georgia late model standout Bubba Pollard, who won his 50th
late model
event
at South Alabama Speedway Saturday night claiming the 2011 Viper
Series Championship. Pollard comes into Saturday’s event third in Tour
points and was the winner of the PASS South event at Gresham
Motorsports Speedway in July. Alabama’s top late model driver Augie
Grill is also entered for Saturday’s event. Grill swept both CRA
Southern Six-Pack Tour events at Gresham Motorsports Park last season
and is a two time Snowball Derby winner.
Other top late
model competitors who are entered for Saturday’s event includes
Georgia natives T.J. Reaid, Dwayne Buggay, David Odell, Russell
Fleeman, Alan Karnes and Greg Simpson. Also North Carolina drivers
Jeff Fultz, Kenzie Ruston, Cale Gale, Jimmy Doyle, and Landon Cling
competing for Brad Kesolowski Motorsports. Oklahoma hot shoe Donnie
Wilson is entered along with South Carolina’s Randy Gentry, Florida’s
Stephen Nasse, Ohio’s Jimmy Weller and Iowa’s Nate Caruth, who will be
making his second start in a late model for Indiana based Muller
Motorsports.
There will be
an open practice on Friday with gates opening at 4pm with rotating
practice going from 6pm until dark. Pit gates open for the CRA
Southern Six-Pack Tour on Saturday at 11:30am. CRA Practice will begin
at 2pm with qualifying for the Easy Racers 100 George Elliott Memorial
at 6:30pm. There will be an autograph session involving all the
drivers starting at the conclusion of qualifying. The race program
