Special from Cole Williams Racing

Sellersburg, IN (October 4, 2011) - Cole Williams in 1st series start is highest finishing Indiana driver at JEGS / CRA All-Star Tour Lucas Oil Raceway Fall Brawl 100 15 year old Cole Williams from Sellersburg Indiana had a simple goal heading into his first ever touring series start when he entered the JEGS / CRA All-Star Tour race at Lucas Oil Raceway, qualify for the show and finish all 100 laps. With 35 teams making the trip, it was going to be a tall order, but Cole exceeded all expectations Sunday when he came home with a solid 10th place finish.

The entire weekend was a learning curve for Cole and his Williams Race Team, from tech procedures, to race format, but with the preparation that had been made for this race both days went without any major issues.

To the teams surprise, Williams and his Port City chassis / Phil Harper powered Impala found themselves towards the top of the board in both 30 minute practice sessions on Saturday with laps of 109.197 mph in session 1, and 109.775 mph in session 2, both good for the 7th quickest times. During the 2nd session he was actually on the top of the board for 15 of the 30 minutes.

The team decided to focus on race runs during practice knowing that qualifying was going to be a weakness. Cole, not having done a full mock run before, was not sure what to expect, later saying he was a little too conservative on his laps, but still managed to qualify the car in the 13th postion at 111.168 mph.

As race day rolled around on Sunday, Williams had a large fan base in the stands. The team had spent its season acquiring experience for Cole 7 hours away at I-44 Speedway in Missouri and most of his family had never seen him race in a full size stock-car. His friends and family were amazed at the talent that the 15 year old displayed Sunday and look forward to his bright future.

Cole started the race in the 7th row inside. A little overwhelmed with this new experience, he dropped towards the rear of the field and would sustain damage to a nose support causing a tire rub that required numerous pit stops under yellow, eventually taking him a lap down. During the middle portion of the race Cole would begin to get comfortable with the track and began to make progress back up thru the field. Before a lap 81 caution he had put himself in position to receive the "lucky dog" award and get back on the lead lap. The last 19 laps saw Cole do what he had done at the end of the season at I-44 where he had won a race and picked up 5 straight top 4 finishes, driving from the 22nd position up into the top 10 for a solid 10th place finish at the checkered flag. Cole had successfully accomplished the teams mission, finishing all the laps, bringing the car home in one piece, and the bonus of a top 10 finish.

With this experience passed, the family owned Williams Race Team will now concentrate on trying to put a program together to be able to run the entire JEGS / CRA Series in 2012 and run Cole for the "Rookie of the Year" award. Any interested parties that would like to join Cole in the quest can contact Williams Racing Team owner, Terry Williams, (502) 641-1005.

Throughout Cole's successful 2011 campaign he drove his #46 Chevrolet Impala with a Port City Chassis riding on RE Suspension shocks, powered by a Phil Harper prepared GM 604 Crate engine carrying sponsorship from: Jim Butner Auto Sales, JEGS.com, Cardinal Services, Rite-Way Industries, Jeff Taylor Performance, Dueser Electric, McAfee Trucking, Wallace Race Car Lettering, Compliance Safety and Fire, LeBody Shoppe, Heineman Upholstery, and Olymco.
