Griffin Wins Scott Performance Wire Five Race Challenge

Salem, IN (October 10, 2011) – Welch & Wilson Motorsports rookie driver Derrick Griffin has won the 2011 Scott Performance Wire Five Race Challenge, coming from behind to beat Scott Hantz at the last event of the Challenge at Lucas Oil Raceway on October 2nd. On an afternoon when all the top five drivers in the Scott Performance Wire Five Race Challenge points had on track issues, Griffin came through with an 11th place finish claiming the Challenge by 21 points over Hantz. Hantz had his worse finish of the season at the Lucas Oil Raceway event after contact from another car caused him to lose several laps in the pits repairing damage. Hantz finished 25th in that event.

The Scott Performance Wire Five Race Challenge is a performance award program based upon five selected CRA Super Series point’s events during the 2011 season. The first event in the Scott Performance Wire Five Race Challenge was the May 30th event at Columbus Motor Speedway, the second was on June 10th at M-40 Speedway, the third was on August 19th at Dixie Motor Speedway, the fourth was on September 5th at Winchester Speedway and the fifth and final event was on October 2nd at Lucas Oil Raceway.

Griffin will receive an $800 bonus and a set of Scott Performance Wires from Scott Performance Wire at the 2011 CRA Awards Banquet. Hantz will receive a $500 bonus for finishing in second. Kenny Tweedy finished in third and will receive a $400 bonus.

Also, the 2011 CRA Super Series Champion and the 2011 CRA Southern Tour Champion will receive a set of Scott Performance Wires.
