Special from Novak Motorsports
One JEGS/CRA/GM Race to go for 18-year-old
Rookie, Jimmy Novak
Dryden, MI (October 11, 2011) - Jimmy
Novak had high hopes coming into the 2011 campaign as he was fresh off
winning three Rookie of the Year titles at three different race tracks
during the 2010 racing season. Those freshman titles came at Auto City
Speedway in Clio, Michigan in the tracks Super Stocks division. He
also scored those honors at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run,
Michigan; and Owosso
Speedway
in Ovid, Michigan in those tracks’ Pro Late Models division. He also
earned Owosso’s 2010 Hard-Charger of the Year award as well for his
efforts.
Not only did Novak accomplish a feat that
had never been done before, three Rookie of the Year titles in the
same season at three different tracks, he shared the honor last season
with the now 17-year-old Kyle Feeney who accomplished the same exact
feat at the exact same three speed plants, only in Feeney’s case, he
won his freshman titles in each tracks open-wheeled Modifieds
division. Prior to last season, the feat had never been done before
and the two drivers became the first two anywhere in the United States
to do so.
With 2010 in the rear view mirror, Novak’s
primary goal this season was the 2011 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of
the Year title in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM
Performance Parts. While he’s locked up the runner-up position in that
title chase behind 16-year-old Cody Coughlin, who merely needs to
start the final race to secure the title, Novak still has goals to
accomplish in the series final race of the inaugural at the legendary
½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in
Winchester, Indiana.
The W&M Manufacturing / Pier-Mac Plastics
100 Presented by JEGS.com is part of the 40th annual
Winchester 400 weekend set for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, October
14-15-16th. The JEGS/CRA/GM season finale will highlight
the Saturday portion of the weekend under the lights on October 15th
and going to his favorite race track may just be the trick to sending
the Novak Motorsports Team on a high note going into the off-season
and preparing for the 2012 season.
"This week we’re heading back to my favorite
race track for the last race of the year and I’m pumped." The
18-year-old Novak stated, "This year we have learned so much running
with the JEGS/CRA/GM series and I’m looking forward to a positive year
next season." The three-time 2010 Rookie of the Year in his home state
of Michigan added.
In Novak’s last appearance at the historic
high-banks in the first of two scheduled JEGS/CRA/GM races in Eastern
Indiana, he qualified 12th for the Winchester 100 Presented
by JEGS.com back on August 20th and during the race, he was
running in the top 10 for most of it until contact with Jack Smith
late in the race forced Novak to pit road multiple times to repair the
damage. He limped home to a 13th place showing.
"We’ve had a lot of bad luck this year, but
I’m looking forward to a strong run at Winchester to finish off the
season," The Dryden, Michigan freshman continued. "We’ve really had a
good season despite the bad luck. We’ve traveled all over the Midwest,
racing on new tracks, gaining experience, it’s been a lot of fun and I
know this season is a big stepping stone towards the future and
hopefully we can end 2011 on a good note." He ended.
During his freshman campaign within the
Salem, Indiana based series, Novak has collected three top 10 finishes
with a season high eighth place finish at Columbus Motor Speedway in
Columbus, Ohio back on May 28th. While securing the 2011
Rookie of the Year title may be out of reach, Novak looks to remain in
the top 10 in the overall season long title chase as he’s currently
eighth in the standings four markers ahead of Wes Griffith Jr., who is
just behind him in ninth, and Tom Woodin, who’s 12 points back in 10th
(716-712-704).
For the remainder of the 2011 racing season,
