CRA to be
Well Represented in Salem Speedway’s Halloween 200 Sunday
Salem, IN
(October 27, 2011) – Champion Racing Association will be well
represented in this Sunday’s 23rd Annual Halloween 200 at Salem
Speedway in Salem, Indiana. This huge end of year Street Stock event
has
grown into one of the biggest Street Stock events in the country,
paying the winner $5000. The event starts everyone who enters by a
blind draw and they are lined up three wide for the initial start.
Topping the
list of Halloween 200 entries with CRA ties is the 2011 EDCO Welding
CRA Street Stocks #73 Championship winning team of owner Danny Acrey
with driver Jeff Lane. Lane scored four wins during the season and had
the Championship clinched before the series last event, which Lane had
to miss when the car developed engine problems in practice. Lane got
two wins at Anderson Speedway, one at Winchester Speedway and one at
Lucas Oil Raceway. Lane also finished 11th in CRA Super
Series points in 2011 getting a win in the series season opener at
Anderson Speedway, were he became the first series driver to make his
200th series start.
Second place
series points finisher Josh Poore is entered, he got one series
victory at Anderson Speedway in 2011. Third place point’s finisher
Brian Hopkins is entered, Hopkins got three series wins in 2011
including the series Championship event on Winchester 400 weekend.
Other 2011 series winners entered for the Halloween 200 includes Jason
Thompson who won the series 200 lap event at Anderson Speedway. Also
Frank Kimmell II who won the series event in June at Lucas Oil Raceway
and Kyle Hadley who won the series 25 lap New Stars Feature on
Winchester 400 weekend.
There several
other drivers entered who competed with the EDCO Welding CRA Street
Stocks during the 2011 season including Rich Segvich, who finished
fifth in series points, he hopes to make his first ever Halloween 200
start Sunday. Other drivers who competed in at least one EDCO Welding
CRA Street Stocks event during the 2011 season racing Sunday includes
Calvin Parham, Beau Mitchell, the series all-time win leader, Jonathon
Ziegler, Chuck Barnes Sr., David Bayens, Brett Hudson and John Hayden.
Fred Hopkins is also entered for Sunday’s race, Hopkins raced in a CRA
Super Series and a Sullivan RV CRA Late Model Sportsman event in 2011.
The #3 Scott
Neal owned car is entered, which was driven in select series events
during the season by Pam Neal, but CRA Managing Partner R.J. Scott
will be behind the wheel on Sunday. This will be Scott’s 21st
Halloween 200. CRA Tech Inspector Jeff Chew won the first Halloween
200 in 1989.
There will be
an open practice on Saturday, pits open at 11am with practice from 1pm
to 4pm. Pits open on Sunday at 8am. Practice begins on Sunday at 10am
with the Halloween 200 taking the green flag at 1:15pm.
