Motor Speedway Next Stop for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

(May 10, 2011) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM
Performance Parts will head to Illiana Motor Speedway this Saturday,
May 14th for the second event of the
inaugural
season for the crate motor late model series. The famed Chicagoland
race track located in Schererville, Indiana is owned and promoted by
local businessman Mike Mikuly, and is the last Indiana asphalt
racetrack to have template Super Late Models competing weekly.
The series
kicked off its inaugural season on April 23rd at Toledo
Speedway were Brian Campbell got the win over a very talented group of
drivers. Campbell tops the great list of drivers already entered for
the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Campbell has won two crate late
model events in the past at Illiana Motor Speedway but will have
strong challenges from several local drivers who are entered that have
tons of laps and wins at Illiana including veterans Eddie Hoffman and
Josh Nelms, who will both be battling Campbell all season for the
series points Championship. Other drivers entered with local ties
include former ARCA competitor A.J. Henricksen, Blake Brown, Wes
Griffin Jr., Anthony Danta, Austin Woodham, Justin Oertel and A.J.
Weltmeyer, the son of Mid-west Legendary racer Dave Weltmeyer.
To date 30
teams have already entered the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com, more
are expected between now and race day. Drivers have entered from seven
states and Canada. Other top series drivers who are entered include
Erik Jones, Brent Downey, Chad Finley, Jason Dietsch, Danny Jackson,
Jack Smith, John Turnbull Jr., Claude Plante, Jordan Dahlke, Seth
Moody, Cole Powell, and Brandon Watson.
There is also
a great group of Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Award Presented by
Howe Racing racers already entered including rookie points leaders
Ross Zumbach, and Tom Woodin. Other registered rookies who have
entered include Cody Coughlin, Jimmy Novak III, Carl Weber, Jake Ott
and Matt Puskarich. Spencer Wauters, son of legendary Crew Chief
Richie Wauters, will make his series debut racing a team car to
Hoffman out of the TK Racing stables.
Just a
reminder to all fans and teams Illiana Motor Speedway is on Central
Time. Pit gates open on Saturday at 1pm, practice will begin at 3pm,
with qualifying at 5:45pm. The racing action will begin at 7pm and
will include the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com. The night’s
program will also feature the INEX Legends and always-popular Illiana
Pure Stock divisions.
