Special From Matt Hall Motorsports
Top 10 finish at Anderson a good start for Rookie Matt Hall. Baer
Field and Asphalt Wars 100 is next
Newport, MI (May 17, 2011) - 18-year-old Hall and his Matt
Hall Motorsports Team officially made their debut in the CRA Super
Series at the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of
Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana for the rescheduled running
of the Seal Wrap 125 Presented by Great Deals Magazine on Saturday,
May 7th. 25 cars were on the grounds and it was an adventurous race
to say the least for the 18-year-old Rookie of the Year title
contender.
When all was said and done, Hall earned the series' Cometic Gasket
Rookie Award as the second highest finishing Rookie in the race as
he started 22nd and gained 14 positions to finish eighth in the
caution plagued feature which saw the yellow come out a whopping 13
times. He also earned contingency awards from Bassett Racing Wheels
as well as Competition Cams and Klotz Lubricants.
"Anderson was both good and bad. The car was really bad, but we
learned some things and should be a lot better off next time. We
managed a top 10 with a horrible racecar. Not what we wanted, but
we'll take it and move forward." Explained the Newport, Michigan
freshman. "We're second in the rookie points after one race behind
Mason Mingus, so all and all it's a good start for us."
"That was Matt's first look at Anderson and from the start we had
trouble. First hauler issues on the way to the track and then a bad
push with the car," Added his Father and Car Owner, Kenny Hall. "The
crew worked hard all weekend and we just wanted to get Matt as many
laps as possible with it being his first time there. We will take
the eighth place finish with the weekend we had."
Next up on the 2011 calendar for Hall's #04 Schlosser Automotive
Chevrolet will be a trip back to the Hoosier State and to the 1/2
(0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval of Baer Field Speedway in Fort
Wayne, Indiana for the Asphalt Wars 100 on a special Sunday
afternoon affair on May 22nd.
"We're looking forward to Baer Field. We've ran a ton of laps there
with our crate car and it's one of our better racetracks." The
younger Hall added. "Last year the guys gave me an awesome car there
and we had some bad luck and could not cap off the night with a good
finish. I am confident we will have a good run here. We just need to
keep the fenders semi clean and we're confident that we will have a
much better racecar this weekend. We still have in focus on staying
out of trouble and making laps." He added.
His Father also added; "We have done some more work on the car and
am looking forward to Baer Field this weekend. This is a good track
for us and hoping to get back in the swing of things. We also can't
thank Jason Dietsch enough for stepping up and promoting his first
race ever to give us a race at Baer Field."
Crew Chief, Brian Moore also weighed in; "We're really looking
forward to going to Baer Field for the Asphalt Wars 100. We have a
lot of friends and family coming and hope to put on a good show for
all the fans. Anderson was rough as we never got the car to turn
the way Matt wanted it to. Just thankful we were able to come out of
there with a top 10 for our first race in this series." He stated.
