Midlothian, IL (June 2, 2011) - On Saturday, May 28th
at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio, Lorz Motorsports with
driver, Wes Griffith Jr., made the trip over to the capital city of
the Buckeye state for the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com,
race #2 on the JEGS/CRA/GM calendar.
After qualifying 16th, the Crown Point, Indiana veteran
would start on the outside of the eighth row and after cracking the
top 10 at the 3/4s mark of the race, and getting as high as ninth
before contact with
another car caused enough damage to force Griffith Jr., to park the
#76 Gorilla Glue Ford for the evening on lap 88. He was shown 15th
in the final rundown of the event.
With very little time to prepare for the next race on the schedule,
this Saturday, June 4th at Anderson Speedway in Anderson,
Indiana for the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com, Car Owner, Mike
Lorz has made the decision to go to a back-up car for the race on the
fast ¼ (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval located north of
Indianapolis.
"Well it’s been a crazy week to say the least; the primary car was
damaged pretty badly at Columbus. The yellow had come out and as Wes
was slowing down, another car behind him was apparently not paying
attention and drilled us in the back causing a lot of damage!" Stated
Lorz. "So that car is getting repaired and will not be done in time
for Anderson." He added.
"If luck would’ve been on our side, we could’ve come out of there
with good finish. The team is working hard to prepare for Anderson and
I hope we can come out of there with a good finish." Continued the
veteran car owner. "It's time that we improve and a solid top 10 or
even a good run in the top five would certainly be nice and a big
boost for the crew." Despite the wreck, Griffith Jr., climbed up to a
whopping five-way tie for ninth in the season long point’s chase after
heading into Columbus 15th in the standings.
Griffith Jr., will be behind the wheel of the back-up #76 Gorilla
Glue Ford and is chasing after the 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM title. He has
additional support from; A.S.I. Adhesive Systems, Edca Auto Body,
Marcotte’s Bar & Grill, Auto Meter, ISC Racers Tape, Behling Racing
Equipment, Aurora Bearing Company, M.P.H. Promotions, and Lorz
Motorsports.
If the week wasn’t already busy enough, Lorz Motorsports will be in
action racing in the ASA Midwest Tour race on Friday, June 3rd
at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Illinois with Canadian Jordan
Sims behind the wheel of another Lorz Motorsports machine. He’ll be
racing in the Wayne Carter Classic 125 at the 1/3 (0.333) mile
semi-banked paved oval located west of Chicago.
