Speedway Up Next for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

(June 1, 2011) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM
Performance Parts will head to Anderson Speedway this Saturday, June 4th
for the third event of the inaugural season for the crate motor late
model series. The famous high-banked quarter mile racetrack located in
Anderson, Indiana has hosted more CRA events than any other track
since CRA’s first ever event on Saturday, April 26, 1997, the
inaugural event for the CRA Super Series.
The series
kicked off
its
inaugural season on April 23rd at Toledo Speedway were
Brian Campbell got the win over a very talented group of drivers. The
series second event was held this past Saturday at Columbus Motor
Speedway were Jimmy Carter got the win after a tough battle with
Mid-west veteran Eddie Hoffman that saw a lot of exciting passes and
restarts though out the event!
Hoffman comes
into Saturday night’s event as the series point’s leader, but is still
seeking his first series win after two straight second place finishes
so far this season. The Illinois driver is a numerous time late model
feature winner and former crate late model Champion, and is tied for
fifth in all-time CRA Super Series victories with eight.
Currently
second in series points is 14 year old Erik Jones, he is nine points
behind Hoffman. The Michigan teenager finished third in the series
season opener at Toledo, he was the Keyser Manufacturing Fast
Qualifier at Saturday’s event at Columbus and battled back from a
mid-race accident to finish 11th. Claude Plante Jr. is
currently third in series points, only 15 points out of first place
after finishing fourth in both series events this season.
Chad Finley is
currently fourth in series points after getting a third place finish
Saturday after coming through the field after a bad qualifying run and
then back through the field again after a mid-race spin. The 19 year
old has had several ARCA Series starts and will make his NASCAR
Nationwide Series debut on June 18th at Michigan
International Speedway. Brent Downey is currently fifth in series
points after two top ten finishes so far this season. Downey is five
points behind Finley.
18 year old
Jimmy Novak comes into Saturday’s event as the leader in Howie Lettow
Rookie of the Year Award Presented by Howe Racing points. Novak
finished eighth in Saturday’s event claiming the Howe Racing Rookie of
the Race Award. Tom Woodin is currently second in rookie points, 15
year old Cody Coughlin is third with Jake Ott in fourth.
Hauler parking
begins at 1pm on Saturday. Pit gates open at 2pm, practice will begin
at 4pm, with qualifying at 6:30pm. The racing action will begin at 8pm
and will include the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com. The night’s
program will also feature the Anderson Speedway Figure 8’s, FWD’s,
Bandolero’s and Thunder Roadsters.
