Four Former All-Star 100 Winners
Competing Saturday
Loves Park, IL - Defending
Rockford Speedway All-Star 100 winner Ryan Carlson leads the list of
former winners competing in this Saturday night’s Stanley Steemer
All-Star 100. Carlson, the current
NASCAR Late Model point leader will once again have the 2007 winner
Eddie Hoffman to contend with, Carlson held off Hoffman in last
season’s running by mere inches at the Checkered Flag. Minnesota
transplant Trent Snyder (2008) has also filed his entry with Jeg’s CRA
All-Stars Tour officials for the event. One entry that has the short
track racing community buzzing is that of 1989 victor Rich Bickle.
Bickle is known for his aggressive driving style that matches up to
the tough Rockford Speedway quarter mile well and allowed the former
National Short Track Champion to catapult his career into the upper
levels of NASCAR.
Other names of interest that have
entered Saturday nights main event are former Rockford Speedway Late
Model Rookie of the Year and 2009 National Short Track Championship
winner Josh Nelms, Oktoberfest 100 winner Erik Jones,
former
Big 8 Series Rookie of the Year Matt Byrne, hard charging Jesse
Saunders and Michigan standout Chad Finley. All told, drivers from six
states and Canada will battle for the checkered flag on a night billed
as a Late Model Double Header. The NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models
will also contest their 30 lap feature as two-time Champion Jerry
Gille attempts to catch Ryan Carlson, Driver X (Jon Reynolds, Jr)
looks for his third feature victory in July and Kyle Shear returns to
action. Also keep an eye on Tom Gille who is knocking on the door of a
feature win as is rookie Mitch Garfield, who has recorded two third
place efforts in as many weeks.
Racing action will also include the
Mountain Dew RoadRunners in their 20 lap feature event, the Sam’s
Drive-In Pretzel Race, HogWash Kids Mini Grand Prix and the Illinois
Camaro Club Smokey Burnouts. Spectator gates will open at 5 with
qualifying at 6pm. The Stateline Staffing Services Dashes Go Green at
7:07pm. Adult tickets are $20, students ages 12-17 are $10, kids (ages
