and Ed Martin Toyota at Anderson Speedway. The famous high-banked
quarter mile racetrack located in Anderson, Indiana has hosted more
CRA Super Series events than any other track since the series’ first
ever event on Saturday, April 26, 1997. Monday’s event will be the 50th
CRA Super Series event held at Anderson Speedway. Former two time
series champion Brian Ross is the all-time series victory leader at
Anderson Speedway with nine victories.
The Redbud 300
has been a traditional stock car event at Anderson Speedway for years,
but just recently found a consistent date on the Monday after the
famed Brickyard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Indianapolis Motor
Speedway. This will be the third straight year this event has been run
on that date, the event has attracted great fields of cars and a great
crowds at the last two Monday shows.
Another great
field of cars is entered for Monday’s event topped by defending race
winner Scott Hantz who managed to hold off a hard charging Brian
Johnson Jr. to get the emotional victory last year, dedicating the win
to his car owner Dick Poe who had passed away only days before the
event. The three time CRA Super Series Champion comes into Monday’s
event as the current series point’s leader but has seen that lead
trimmed to only 28 points as Terry Fisher Jr. continues his streak of
great runs with the series including getting his first series victory
on July 3rd. Fisher Jr. looks to improve upon his third
place finish in last year’s Redbud 300. Hantz has three CRA wins at
Anderson.
There will
also be a great NASCAR connection to Monday’s race as former NASCAR
competitor Ken Schrader is entered driving a team car to Wisconsin
racer Robert Maynor again in the event. Schrader finished in fifth
place in last year’s event. The Redbud 300 will also have three NASCAR
Sprint Cup drivers son’s competing for the win including Bill
Elliott’s son Chase, Matt Kenseth’s son Ross, who won the series last
event last Sunday at Plymouth Speedway and Dave Blaney’s son Ryan, the
2010 CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour Champion. Elliott finished 10th
in last year’s event while Kenseth had his day end early with a dead
battery on lap 64.
There are
several CRA Super Series regulars entered who have been to victory
lane at Anderson in CRA Super Series events including four time winner
Kenny Tweedy, Jeff Lane a three time series winner at Anderson
including the 2011 season opener, three time winner John Van Doorn who
returns to action after taking off for several events, two time winner
Rick Turner, and one time winners Jim Crabtree Jr., Peter Cozzolino
and Andy Ponstein.
Other top
series drivers entered include Derrick Griffin, who is currently third
in series points and leads the rookie of the year standings, also
Mason Mingus, second in rookie points to date, Jay Niewiek, Damon
Ecoff, Jason Dietsch, Joe Beaver, Colin Nickolai, two time 2011 CRA
winner Brian Campbell, Aaron Pierce, and Jack Smith.
CJ Leary will
make his second start in the series after a successful first race at
Plymouth Speedway for the Welch & Wilson Motorsports team. Sullivan RV
CRA Late Model Sportsman Series competitor Mark Lambert is entered to
make his 2011 CRA Super Series debut. Mooresville, North Carolina
native Landon Cling is entered in the Brad Kesolowski Motorsports car.
Florida ace Steve Dorer continues his Northern vacation with his
fourth straight start this season with the series including getting
his first series victory at M-40 Speedway on July 10th.
