Special from Novak Motorsports
2011 JEGS/CRA/GM Rookie Runner-Up,
18-year-old Jimmy Novak shifts focus to 2012
Dryden, MI (December 16, 2011) -
During the 2010 racing season, Jimmy Novak won an impressive three
Rookie of the Year titles at three different race tracks! Those
freshman titles came at Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan in the
tracks Super Stocks division. He also scored those honors at Dixie
Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan; and Owosso Speedway in Ovid,
Michigan in those tracks’ Pro Late Models division. He also earned
Owosso’s 2010 Hard-Charger of the Year award as well for his efforts.

Not only did Novak accomplish a feat that
had never been done before, three Rookie of the Year titles in the
same season at three different tracks, he shared the honor last season
with now 17-year-old Kyle Feeney who accomplished the same exact feat
at the exact same three speed plants, only in Feeney’s case, he won
his freshman titles in each tracks open-wheeled Modifieds division.
Prior to last season, the feat had never been done before and the two
drivers became the first two anywhere in the United States to do so.
In 2011, Novak’s primary goal this season
was the 2011 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title in the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts. After a
thrilling battle all season long with 16-year-old Cody Coughlin, who
merely needed to start the final race to secure the title, Novak still
has goals to accomplish in the series final race of the inaugural at
the legendary ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester
Speedway in Winchester, Indiana.
"Going into the last race Winchester I was
excited because Winchester is one of the tracks I like running at and
thought we would have a good finish." The Dryden, Michigan teenager
reflected. The W&M Manufacturing / Pier-Mac Plastics 100 Presented by
JEGS.com,
which was part of the 40th annual Winchester 400 weekend,
the JEGS/CRA/GM season finale highlighted the Saturday portion of the
weekend under the lights on October 15th. Unfortunately the
weekend didn’t start out as he planned as the 18-year-old found the
wall in Practice destroying his car and originally his weekend was
over.
"After I wrecked our car in practice from a
right front tire blowing, the whole team was disappointed and we were
looking at heading home a bit earlier than planned," Novak continued.
"We thought we were done for day. But my dad (Car Owner, Jim Novak)
had heard that Lorz Motorsports had a backup car and they were nice
enough to let us use it for the race." After starting last in the
28-car field, Novak steadily got used to the machine throughout the
century grind and would advance 17 positions to finish a respectable
11th in the final rundown.
"After the race was over I was pretty
pleased where we ended up especially jumping into a car I had never
been in, no practice, and I had to have seat cushions under me and a
towel stuffed in the seat to make me fit in the seat." The Great Lakes
State teenager laughed. "It was a rough season this year for our team
with a lot of bad luck and we are looking forward to next year to
redeem our poor performance for this year."
During his freshman campaign within the
Salem, Indiana based series, Novak collected three top 10 finishes
with a season high eighth place finish at Columbus Motor Speedway in
Columbus, Ohio back on May 28th. Novak also finished eighth
overall in the final points standings and is the 2011 Howie Lettow
Memorial Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing Enterprises
Runner-Up to Coughlin.
"I just want to thank my crew for all there
help this past season, Jeff Pinnell especially for all the hard work
he put in to get us to the track each week. And also want to thank all
my sponsors because without them this wouldn't be possible." He ended.
During the 2011 racing season, Novak’s #53 Chevrolet Impala carried
primary sponsorship decals from the family business; Novak’s Supply
and Equipment as well as Meguiar’s Car Care Products, Saginaw Welding
Supply, Local Waste, Northern Concrete, Cub Cadet Power Equipment,
Port City Race Cars, M.P.H. Promotions, and Novak Motorsports.
As for the 2012 campaign, Novak and his
Novak Motorsports Team look to avoid the sophomore jinx and contend
for the 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts
Championship. To learn more about Novak Motorsports and to inquire
