CRA Takes on
the High Banks of Winchester Speedway This Sunday

(August 2, 2011) – Champion Racing Association will be taking on
the famous High Banks of historic Winchester Speedway this Sunday,
August
7th as part of the Family Fun Day that will feature racing
action from the Sullivan RV CRA Late Model Sportsman Series, the EDCO
Welding CRA Street Stocks and the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD
Compacts. Bring the whole family out for a great day of racing and
family entertainment with giant
inflatables, face painting and snow cones for the kids.
Sunday’s
Sullivan RV CRA Late Model Sportsman event will be the series 21st
event at
Winchester
Speedway. Charlie Hanna has the most series wins at Winchester with
three. Jason Atkinson comes into Sunday’s event as the series point’s
leader after seven series events so far in 2011. Atkinson has three
wins to date. Keith Sterkowitz has narrowed the points lead down to 51
points after getting his third series victory of the season in the
series last event at Anderson Speedway. Hanna is in third place in
points, he is only 17 points behind Sterkowitz. Mark Lambert is in
fourth place with Mark Parker in fifth place.
Sunday’s EDCO
Welding
CRA Street Stocks event will be the 33rd series event at
Winchester Speedway, the most at any one race track. Beau Mitchell is
the all-time series victory leader at Winchester with six victories.
Veteran CRA competitor Jeff Lane, who has two Street Stock victories
at Winchester, comes into Sunday’s event as the series point’s leader
by 72 points over Anderson Speedway hot shoe Josh Poore. Rookie Mark
Mason and the #21 car owned by Steve Davis and campaigned recently by
Ryan Amonett are tied for third place. Another CRA veteran Rich
Segvich is currently fifth in series points.
The Vore’s
Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts have had 29 events to date at
Winchester Speedway and are the only CRA division to get to race at
Winchester so far in 2011 after the track has been
forced
to totally cancel two events because of weather. Current series
point’s leader Jeff Shelmadine got the victory at Winchester Speedway
on Saturday, June 25th, it was his second victory of the
2011 season. Rookie Rick James is in second place in points, he is 46
points behind Shelmadine. James won the season opening series point’s
event at Baer Field Speedway. Justin Brown is just one point behind
James in third place. Rookie Kyle Crump is in fourth place and Cary
Abrell is currently in fifth place.
Pits open on
Sunday at 8am. Practice will begin at 10:30am with qualifying starting
at 12:30pm. The race program will begin at 2pm and will include 8 lap
heats and a 20 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD
Compacts, 10 lap heats and a 40 lap features for the Sullivan RV CRA
Late Model Sportsman Series and the EDCO Welding CRA Street Stocks.
